The new Crash TV podcast is out, and the team look at the new cars coming this summer so I'll let the video do the talking. Anyone else going to pay for this content?
I tried Burnout 3 a little and it was just eh. Had some wierd multiplayer mode that just felt like I was driving against walls the whole time with sparks.
I tried Burnout Revenge at a EB Games and I swear it felt SLOW. Even when boosting. I had to put it down and walk away.
This one, I have only played the demo but it felt like the city was one big brown blur. Like it wasn't easy to differiate the streets and stuff. And I could only find ONE race it I took a wrong turn or did something and it ended early on. Then I played it with some random person and just turned into "drive to the end of the street, turn around, try to the other player and repeat."
After that I just deleted it and moved on. Maybe cause there wasn't as much of an emphasis on RACING which I really liked from Burnout 2. I am thoroughly enjoy Pure though.
I know you're enjoying Pure, you mention it in most of your blogs! The demo for that was pretty cool, but it's not high on my buy list.
Anyway about Burnout, it's gonna sound cliche a lot of people (IRL and the internet) have said the game is much much better than the demo. There's still a emphasis on racing, though I will accept it's been lessened so that other events like Road Rage and Marked Man get noticed and played too. I really enjoyed Burnout 1, 2 and especially 3, so perhaps that does play a small role in why I like the game.
Also, Burnout Revenge was HORRIBLE, the colour palette was changed to mainly browns so that it felt "grittier" and I definitely about about the slow comment.
Burnout Paradise is one of my most favourite games this gen. I'm really looking forward to the DLC this year. I can't see the video on this pc but I'll view it later.
Have you ever tried Burnout: Dominator? Its not made by Criterion, but its awesome. They put the emphasis back on racing; it doesn't even have a crash mode! Its all about risk-taking to keep up your burnout chain.
And I will definitely pay for any Criterion DLC. I love Burnout Paradise so hard.
I would agree that the demo in this case is not 100% representative of the main game. Unfortunately the map checking can get to be a downer, but other than that I think that Paradise is a fantastic game.
