I only played through part of Leon's, but it seemed really cool...If you really enjoyed Revelations I don't see why this one is much different other than being more shooter oriented.
lol, harsh, holmes.
btw sup holmes is my favorite show of all time, please keep doing it forever and ever.

Dear gawd. It's that's bad? Anyways, I appreciate your feelings on this, but you should take the time to get to know and interact with the cblog community, before you go posting a very short blog like this. We are a community here and will welcome you with open arms, if you engage us.
No, it's not that bad at all. It's very good, will probably score high and sell a ton, and the haters will be left in obscurity as always.
Also, Phil, it's Holmes, not a newbie. lol

I agree, Holmes, especially that last point.
@Smithy/Joker - Of course it'll sell well. When you abandon any defining characteristics in favor of genetic action. The only reason it wouldn't sell is if the slap job nature of this rushed game is as apparent to everyone as it is to some.

Please. It's no more rushed or generic than 90% of the other games thrown at the market on a yearly basis.

@ JokerFig- I really liked Revelations. You constantly had to struggle to keep enemies away from you AND to shoot them, which was tough do to their erratic movement patterns. That was scary and tense. In the RE6 demo, I tend to just run up and melee anything that looks vaguely threatening, or just walk backwards and shoot them until dead.
But in RE6's favor, it does have this-

But in RE6's favor, it does have this-

I also didn't like the demo. Shooting is fun and I like the way the zombies react, but he game feels like a mess, especially Leon's part, which is supposed to be suspenseful. Apparently running around tripping on zombies is how you make suspense in a game. The environments seems well done, but I can barely explore them because Leon is always running, the camera doesn't help and the whole stage is incredibly linear and scripted. Also, if I see a zombie lying on the ground, that I know will get up when I go back to the room, why can't I just shoot them right then and there? It kills immersion for me.
Chris part I didn't even bother completing, it felt like a generic third person shooter, cover system and all. It also feels so tired with the american military cliches.
Jake and Sherry part were the only I most liked, if only because the characters seems cool and it feels more like the experiences we got in Resident Evil 4 and 5.
Overall I don't think the game looks bad, just confused with ideas from other games and more action oriented than ever.

I care so much about this game I'm getting Dishonored and Code of Princess the day it launches.
At least some games stay true to roots.

Thinking more about it, I'm wondering if RE6 is supposed to appeal to people who know RE from the movies?
The RE movies mostly just silly action films that happen to have monsters in them.

I actually liked the demo; at first I found the controls really confusing and a little overwhelming but once I'd played it through a few times I got the hang of things. I also liked the difference in tone and style of play between the different characters.
I'll admit it's not much like earlier REs but I am interested to see how it turns out, and it's not like the earlier RE games were perfect. I do hope Leon's 'tense' campaign is scarier than tripping over zombies in dark corridors though.

Chris's section was the worse for me, it was just a god damn war game at that point. I'm in some random city that's wrecked and clearly been bombed to hell, I'm with a group of troops following them in tanks and I'm shooting against people who also have guns, except these ones also look like monsters a bit, great, eurgh so gross and bland!
And the 3 campaign thing makes no sense to me, its ultimately fractured the entire game from what I can tell. Can only hope this game bombs so Capcom do not try this again.

Holmes - Was there any doubt? After the first movie, we have the games shift to more action oriented gameplay and even incorporating laser gymnastic security. Then the entire series becomes an ammo collecting, non-zombie blasting experience with forced (some times invincible!?!?) partners. Now we have a movie and game near simultaneously launching as seemingly the sequel to the same Las Plagus RE5 nightmare.
I had no idea a series could stray SO far from its roots, and snowball itself into oblivion via two different mediums.

@Holmes, I think it might be targeted at people who bought RE:5 and loved it. I know a bunch of people that wouldn't be into the whole slow paced terror game that Resident Evil once was, but love the macho running around and killin' zombies with your buddy kine of game. RE:5 wasn't scary at all and appealed to people who just like to gun down tons of enemies. I'm not sure from a price stand point, but how much did RE:5 make/sell compared to RE:4?
Also, play animal crossing with me when it comes out!

In which they fought monsters, not humans with guns.
The game is a step back in every direction, not just for RE but for a third person shooter, everything felt so shitty and floaty. And holy fuck was it dark, even with brightness I couldn't see a damn thing.

does it still have that ammo and health eating sidekick? If not it would at least improve hugely on that front and you could add that to the list of good things.
I agree with every point, specially number 1.
Did you play lone survivor holmes? I highly recommend it.

I've been a big Resident Evil Fan for a long time now and although I haven't loved the demo, I'm still picking up this game.
It has a lot to to with blind devotion to the game but also I believe that demos do not accurately represent the full potential of the game. Just look at Spec Ops: The Line. There demo for that game made it look like a generic military shooter but upon playing the Full game you find so much more.
The RE series has given me a lot of good times (and a couple of bad) but I'm going to give this new title a chance and reserve judgement until I've played the final product.

From what I've heard through the grapevine, Mercs is still really good fun.
Considering I play Mercs in each game for hundreds of hours (much more than every RE game combined), as long as they get that right, I'm perfectly fine with the campaign sucking.

@ qulm
Yeah, but now it’s on the other end of the spectrum, when I played my AI partner was one-shotting zombies before I got a chance to even notice them, if I got grabbed she would immediately kick them off, and in the off chance you do get in trouble someone will shake a box of tic-tacs at your face and save you.
The weird/sad thing is the game still feels like there’s this amazing potential hiding under the surface of all these terrible ideas.

So, what you're saying is that you're not going to rush out and buy this game?
Honestly, I loved BOTH demos. The only thing I didn't like was the co-op, since items and ammo aren't shared anymore, and everything is just duplicated for everybody.

Hahaha Love it, Jonathan! I'm still picking up a copy, though. I don't have high hopes that this game will do the franchise any justice, but I think I'll have fun with it anyway.
Also, perhaps new IP will bring back the classic survival horror feel. Mikami's Project Zwei looks like it might be interesting. Who knows, though. In an industry that takes less and less risk, it could turn out to be another Multi-Player Action Game.
@Handy: well, shit. Oh well, a helpful AI is better than a shitty AI for lone players like me, still, i wish the industry would just fucking quit this ridiculous infatuation with unnecessary and forced co-op. Thanks for the info though.
I don't even want to play it anymore.....
I watched video of it and really didn't like what I saw. I'm shocked. I don't know if you remember but I was probably more excited for RE5 than anybody on this website. Now I can't even bring myself to TRY a DEMO for RE6.
I should have seen this coming after finishing 5. It was a great game but it strayed pretty far from what Resident Evil is really all about.
Resident Evil 4 was the best game ever. Still pretty fucking awesome to this day

Number 1 should have been placed in the no. 10 spot so that I could understand those replacements in 10-7 were bad things.
The question becomes, is this going to appeal to anyone? I cannot help thinking that nobody at Capcom know what to make with Resident Evil. Resident Evil isn't cool or interesting anymore because nothing fist together well. The concept of zombies holds it own, but the story/plot arc and game play are miserable wrecks. I look at what Dead Island tried to do and what ARMA 2 DayZ Modification is trying to do and I see thoughtful new ideas. When I look at Resident Evil I think, "Wow, I have no idea what is going on; and, worse, I don't care. This new game looks unworthy my time & effort to understand."
The story, the characters, or the game play of RE could be each salvaged in parts, but together them all being badly handled has just made a convoluted mess that is impossible to fix. I hate reboots, but if they don't just drop the game for a few years they should at least consider a re-boot from square one : T-Virus, Umbrella, Raccoon City with Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. Have it makes sense in plot, story and game play, write a five game story where it all fits together and where Las Plagas NEVER happens! Make the game play fresh look at what games like DayZ are doing. Look at what other games telling a "thriller" or "horror" story are doing. The whoel thing needs fresh eyes and fresh thoughts.

@ MonkeyKing: Action game fans will eat it up and a large portion of the Resident Evil fan base will still buy the game regardless of it's overall quality. So enough to garner a few million in sales easily.
Also, people who see commercials for it will think it's awesome. It looks good in short bursts if you're looking for something exciting and edgy.

RE:4 is one of my all time favourites, even though I adore the original series too. Fucking despised RE:5 though. Even without the co-op options, it's just a shit game. So I'm kind of expecting this one to be too.
Of course its going to sell well, there are statistically more stupid people th there are smart ones who couldn't be bothered give a fuck either way. "lol, its gots stuffs I can shoot, I don't know why you don't like it fag. You're probably stupid and out of touch and like your games to be somewhat unique and changing. Pff, 'the fuck outta here with that old man shit, I obviously know what good games are: the ones that look like the other ones that get good metacritic scores and sell well. Also, I'm pretty much a sheep"
Have fun with re6 folks. I'll wait til its super cheap to get it for mercenaries mode, the only redeeming thing about those games now and for the most ironic of reasons.

Revelations was very good, but there were plain stupid parts in it. Mainly, whenever it flashed to different characters. Those were balanced by nicely done parts though, like the blob-ish boss that chased you as zombies kept appearing; or when the girl turned into that monster.
