Mmm-hmm. I too am looking forward to Mega Man. Even if it's not as good as 9, it'll still be pretty awesome.
Good luck with the podcast, I really enjoyed episode one!
As for the Wii haters, I find the best policy is just to ignore them. All they see is the shovelware and that somehow makes the whole console bad.

I want some confirmation on the two player mode, or the third character! It's pretty outrageos that the game is on our doorstep, and we know next to nothing about it, given how big of a release it is.
Also, good luck on Bit Transmission man! I'm glad you finally got a podcast. You really deserve it, given that you probably have some of the most retro knowledge on the entire website.
The Wii bashing also makes me sad. While it may not have AS MANY "must haves" this year as the 360 or PS3, it still has a ton, and anyone who misses Mario Galaxy 2 or Other M is a sucker.

Listen to my advice: Relax. Count to ten, exhaling and inhaling slowly with each count. I do that when I get too anxious and have to relax. It works for me.
Don't stay in the background like on that first show. You spoke up once or twice with your Nintendo opinions and I really liked that. I'd like to hear you speak a little more excitedly and comfortably.
I'm glad you're around Tron. I like reading your opinions and thoughts on stuff and I feel like we're on friendly terms. I'm actually proud that you (and Conrad too!) moving up on the ladder with this Bit.Transmission stuff. Just say something! It felt like you were barely there on the last one. I'm anxious to hear what you have to say, I always have been since I came here and saw what you had to say.
And if you can shoe horn in my MegaTen question, that would be awesome.

Not to double comment, but I also agree with the Wii stuff. While it does have a lot of shovelware and games that aren't worth playing, it has tons that are.
I've even found some WiiWare games that are amazing. Games like Shirin, that Phantom Brave re-relese, Rune Factory, Barouqe, and Dynamic Slash are all great under the radar type games. I can't wait to play Dynamic Slash. If only I knew of someone working for a website that could yell about those games.

Finding a balance between how to address subjects on a podcast, and what type of personality to have with it is really weird at first. A lot of it is trial and error, getting feedback, and finding a comfortable balance between everything. It takes time. Also, the group dynamic is really important. You don't want to have one person dominating the entire conversation, but find a way so every member can have an equal amount of voice in the topic at hand. Give it some time, you'll get the hang of it, and then it'll just feel natural.
FANTASTIC BLOG. I feel all I've done with previous comments is moan about other people's blogs, but that's because Destructoid deserves more blogs like this.
I completely agree that console bashing is so old, but sadly it has happened as long as I can remember.
Every generation of console there's a band of morons who feel they need to justify their ownership of their games machine with asinine taunts and jeers about "Sonic is better than Mario!" or "Killzone is better than Halo!" or "Halo 3 is better than Killzone 2!"
Their affectations are taken on like political party or sports team fanatics; desperate to prove how much one team is better than the other, refusing to give a balanced argument except by balancing shouting with swearing.
It's a great thought that we should unite in support of great gaming, no matter where it may stem from. Sadly it is one that some cannot bear to face.

The Wii is destroying the gaming market, it's leading us to another video game crash thats why us "proper gamers" don't like it *smokes pipe, swirls brandy glass*
A lot of the bashing has stemmed from the old console wars of the past, just now with the Net being so prevalent, it's so much easier to get your opinion out, and therefore so much easier to see a collection of opinions in one place. Come on, when we were kids, we'd argue over who was better between Sonic and Mario, and wonder what the hell Blast Processing was and that the SNES was better because it had more buttons on its controller.
Much of the bashing is rooted in specs. Since it's too easy to just harp your own opinion, people have taken the fight to the specs themselves. The Wii is the weakest console in terms of power compared to the other two systems. Its library is also of note, though opinion pops in when it comes to deciding what is a "good" game and what isn't. Also the fact that the Wii uses a different control scheme than the others (for now) is another point of contention. "It's different so it sucks." Yet I see people who bashed the Wii controls actually look forward to the Arc or Natal. *sigh*
The last thing is that gaming is "cool" now. I really wish I could find this image, but there was a before-and-after look on gamers between when video gaming started in homes versus how it was at the time. Like, the before picture was a cartoony nerd in a basement, illuminated by the glow of his screen. The after picture was of a bleach-blonde surfer dude with sunglasses on which could only scream the word "RADICAL" on looks alone. I'd say around the first PS1 was when this happened, this shift from gaming being acceptable and not something nerdy geeky types did.
I'm still not really sure if making gaming (more?) mainstream was a good idea or not.
Anyway, in closing, I'll kindly remind the lot of you to stay offline when FF13 gets released because you'll probably drown in a sea of comparison vids OBVIOUSLY showing which version is superior.

I'm a Mega Man fanatic, so I'm definitely getting 10 tomorrow, and even if it sucks, I'll probably play it about 30 or so times before I'm bored of it.
As for the Wii talk, I agree completely. They're pieces of electronics, and people go on acting like its their livelihood. People like different things, and that's fine, but I'm guaranteeing you right now, not a single person will ever understand that.
I agree that the Wii IS underpowered, though, and with stuff like the PS3 Arc coming out soon, I don't know how much longer it can last at standard-def. Maybe Nintendo will surprise us all and announce an HD console soon.

Maybe an article on the history of fanboyism is due? When I think about how it came to be, I always go back to the old UK Official Nintendo Magazine as of about ten years ago. The letters page was filled with angry rantings of console elitism and the editors tossing around terrible puns such as "GreyStation" "Dreampants" and my personal favourite, the "Sega Sadturn." A whole generation of fanboys were birthed within those very pages, and while I never read Playstation Magazine, the excerpts I've seen suggest that they were the same.
Maybe it was the gaming media that shaped how fanboys think, only now trying to reconcile themselves back into an era of anti-moronism (phrase: coined). Or maybe its innate within people to stand up for their big box of electronics. Either way, it'd be fun to speculate!

I wish you luck with Bit Transmission. Ever since I saw your E3 videos I've wanted you to guest on Podtoid or something, but this is way better.
I guess I don't have to let you know that I agree with your Wiipinions.

Holmes, chiming in on the Wii-bashing thing: I was a Wii basher about 8 months ago, and for whatever reason, I began to gain a bit more of a retro sensibility over the past few months with my gaming. I think Bayonetta sort of spurred that on with it's various references to past titles and it's building on DMC's foundation, and it's unabashed "videogame-ness" (it's absolute lack of semblance to real-world physics or social norms). The wild success of New Super Mario Bros. Wii (based almost entirely on old-school game design) and the looming releases of Tatsunoko vs Capcom and No More Heroes 2 appealed to me on that level. As already being a fan of the original No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2 was flaunting its retro minigames and that same absurdist sense of "videogameness" that I admittedly love (but apparently had lost contact with among all the FPS games and gritty, violent narratives). Tatsunoko vs. Capcom very much had a classic feel to it -- it drew upon Capcom and Tatsunoko's rich property histories; it was being advertised as a new "Vs." game, which I feel is recognizable to anyone who's been playing fighters for a long time, etc......
That said, I had sold my Wii in my Wii-hating phase of life, and ended up buying a new one with some leftover holiday cash. Got all the titles mentioned above, picked up House of the Dead: Overkill, and looking to finally purchase MM9 and 10 off of the Wii Shop. Right now, the Wii is very much in my favor.
On the flip, I think I can see why people would sort of lose touch with what it stands for for the hardcore gamer. Yes, there's a lot of shovelware garbage cluttering the view of what the Wii really has to offer, and the bigger budget games on the sibling consoles this generation have this sort of mainstream/gamer-hybrid-flair (that is, it is successful in appealing to both gamers and the mainstream). The poor little Wii, with it's "Neo-Old-School" sensibilities (I named my Wii system "NeOS" for "Neo-Old-School") is sadly facing very large obstacles when it comes to being heard.

I can sympathize with you on the podcast thing. Aside from a guest spot in Refused Classification, I've never done one before. I'm trying to come up with ideas and stuff for the first Sega Addicts podcast, but I have no idea what to do yet. You're sort of my inspiration though, I figured "if Holmes can do it well, maybe I can too!" :)
Also, in terms of Wii bashing, I've realized that there's really no such thing as a bad console. Owning a PS3 and a Wii during the height of the 360's popularity taught me that. Despite claims of "the PS3/Wii has no games", I was constantly playing stuff and discovering the benefits of each console. It's just a shame that most people on the internet don't agree with me.

Yes! I, too, can not wait, Holmes! =) Bring it!
Mega Man 10 is nearly here with little, if not any, fanfare. Weird. Oh, well. Skip the fireworks and just give me the damn game already!
I'm sure it's not going to "suck", guys. I mean, it's hard to top 2, but, damn, 9 was pretty close, for many different reasons. Partly nostalgia and partly, well, because it was a damn fine game. Confession... I have yet to beat 9, dammit. I will attempt to accomplish that feat today. I'm almost to the end, I believe. I'm coming for ya, Wily!
I find the Wii curb stomping hilarious. I fail to understand it, really. I shrug it off, most of the time. Anyway, you couldn't have said it better, Holmes.
"...it's extremely ironic to me that gamers who have been mocked and ridiculed their whole lives for loving videogames now choose to mock and ridicule others for playing the Wii. It's like they are trying to prove that they are, by some arbitrary measure, "cooler" than "casual gamers". Isn't that fucking weird?"
The statement is so true, although you failed to recognize that younger players, have also, jumped on the "mock-the-Wii" bandwagon. I've witnesses the malarkey many times at my local independent gaming store(Phoenix Games).
All I can say is, I'm enjoying my Wii. What others do with their time is their business.
Not to rant any further, but this past year for the Wii has been almost something of a dream year, for me. I mean, in a year's span the Wii has given me Punch Out!! Wii, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Excitebike: World Rally, Contra: ReBirth, Castlevania: Rebirth and soon Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M and by year's end, possibly, a new Zelda title. If that doesn't get your fire going, your pilot light is out!

You're doing great so far on that podcast, man. Looking forward to more!
I've been considering calling out tomorrow to play MM10. Alas, responsibly adult is responsible... maybe... :D
I'm not too worried about 10. Assuming that its still the IntiCreates team doing it, these guys have shown their chops with the ZX (and MMZero?) series. They've got a good sense of how to craft a boss fight, even if they skew a bit on the "one good pattern" side. Excited, if nothing else, to see what else they can do in the old school style.

All I hope is that MM10's music is not as bad as that thing I heard in that video was.
Never listened to the podcast, but I don't have an iPod or any other way to use 'em and I'm too lazy to find a way unless it's put on the youtubes.
Finally, Wii bashers are as pathetic as anyone who needs to bash ANYTHING to get off on it/secure their feelings.

Real Irony of the Wii?
The detractors always come back for another unit eventually. Nintendo will inevitably make or publish a game they cannot exist without having played and will lay down money just to do it.
Pretty much every generation this happens. Watch games like The last Story, Xenoblade, Mario, Zelda, Dragon Quest and Metroid do it if the retro games don't.

I love you guys.
Just finished the podcast. I really started to rant after a while. Hope it doesn't suck. I want to reply to everybody, but my mind is totally empty.
Only 11 hours until Mega Man 10!

I can understand not wanting MM10 to suck, because if it does this whole reboot is going to stop pretty quickly.

This is exactly it. It's like all those threads you see on various forums of people claiming they are "real gamers" for liking Street Fighter over Tekken, and that anyone that feels dfferently from them is a fake. It's stupid and pointless, but since when has that stopped them? I mean, look at Jim's Heavy Rain vs. Deadly Premonition article for examples of that.
As for Megaman 10, I am certain it will be fantastic, and that's enough for me. Will it be better then MM2 or 3 or 9? Maybe. But I don't care if it's going to be "better", I just want a good game, and that's what I'm going to get.

Is it weird that I'm interested in Mega Man 10, but not excited? I dunno, I'm just really hoping that it's more Mega Man 2 than Mega Man 4. But honestly, I think I'm just kinda naturally apprehensive. After all, I have the same (albeit stronger) feelings towards Sonic 4. Personally, I think I'm going to get it on the PS3. After playing Mega Man 9 on it (I got it out of a contest free), I didn't see too much of a difference from a Wii, aside from just clearer visuals on an HDTV. Hopefully this time, they'll actually put in trophies.
