About Me
"Where do dreams end and reality begin? Videogames, I suppose."- Gainax, FLCL Vol. 1

"The beach, the trees, even the clouds in the sky... everything is build from little tiny pieces of stuff. Just like in a Gameboy game... a nice tight little world... and all its inhabitants... made out of little building blocks... Why can't these little pixels be the building blocks for love..? For loss... for understanding"- James Kochalka, Reinventing Everything part 1

"I wonder if James Kolchalka has played Mother 3 yet?" Jonathan Holmes

New Blast Works (Tumeki Fighters Wii) video: The ultimate customizable game?
Jonathan Holmes | 9:05 PM on 01.15.2008 8 comments

Our good friends over at IGN have an exclusive video of the upcoming Wii game Blast Works. The original free ware version of the game, Tumeki Fighters, is already a cult classic. There is no way I would not support this retail sequel/remake. As matter of principal, I but indie games based on original concepts. As a great man said "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." How can I sit around and complain about all these cookie cutter FPSs and JRPGS if I don't support the indie alternatives?

But after seeing this video, my motive to support the indie game scene has nothing on my hard core lust for this game's customize mode. From the looks of it, Blast Works basically allows you to build any low poly character you want and throw it in the game. Ever wanted to make your own 2D shooter? Well, it looks like now you can, with nearly no restrictions.

This game just went from "Sure, I'll buy that whenever" to "I wanted this game to come yesterday" status.

Your thoughts, 'toid?

Oops, I read that as blast corps and got excited for a VC release/sequel of that ancient n64 game, which would be pretty sweet in itself.

Thats a pretty robust looking editor--i dont understand why he had to go and make his detailed work of art utterly invisible in the last few seconds, but that is pretty amazing.

That's going to be nuts. I thought it'd suck, but now, I think it's gonna be great.

I just played the original and I'm beginning to see that this game is looking a lot less like the toy-based shmup the original is, for better or worse.
