"Where do dreams end and reality begin? Videogames, I suppose."- Gainax, FLCL Vol. 1
"The beach, the trees, even the clouds in the sky... everything is build from little tiny pieces of stuff. Just like in a Gameboy game... a nice tight little world... and all its inhabitants... made out of little building blocks... Why can't these little pixels be the building blocks for love..? For loss... for understanding"- James Kochalka, Reinventing Everything part 1
"I wonder if James Kolchalka has played Mother 3 yet?" Jonathan Holmes
I really didn't think it would be possible for me to want to see this movie. I've loved every film Miyazaki has ever done, but the premise of his new film, Ponyo on a Cliff, just seemed so uninspired.
From everything I had read, it was to be like a cross between the Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo, two fine films, but neither are as good as even Miyazaki's worst movie. Why would Miyazaki copy films that are worse than his own? Would this be the film where Miyazaki finally jumps the shark?
From the looks of this new trailer, I'd say no. The film looks freaking fantastic. Even the annoying commentary from the Japanese morning news crew can't keep me from watching this trailer again and again.
