About

He's another one of those college graduates who are looking for a video game writing job. Hailing straight out of Southern California, Jonathan has written for Bitmob.com and countless other newspapers and blogs.

Although he was a former community news writer for the Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot and patch.com, Jonathan spends most of his time playing Japanese role-playing games. His favorite of all time is Persona 4, but he also dabbles in Battlefield 3 sessions in his spare time. He also enjoys all the old classics on his Playstation Portable.

I am Jonathan Oyama, a Japanese-American video gamer who hails from the empire of Southern California. I write hair removal articles for a general blog company, but I hope to find a better job.

In the meantime, I entertain myself by playing every weird Japanese video game that can keep me happy.

Japanese role-playing games are the bread-and-better essentials of my collection. My favorite is still Persona 4, with Chrono Trigger coming in a close second. Xenoblade Chronicles is also becoming a true classic in every sense of the word.

I don't just play Japanese RPGs though. I'm a big fan of the first Devil May Cry and I love blasting my way through Bayonetta. In general, I love shooters by a certain developer named Treasure. They've created most of my favorites, such as Radiant Silvergun and Sin & Punishment 1 and 2.

I also dabble in first-person shooters every now and then. I'm a huge Battlefield 3 addict. I'm still not the best player out there. Frankly, the game is so technical that it's hard to figure everything out. I am improving though. My favorite soldier class is the Engineer, by the way.

I spend most of my time on three systems--an Xbox 360, a Nintendo Wii and a Playstation Portable. I also keep my Playstation 2 around at a little vacation home somewhere.

In case anyone is wondering, I was a coworker with Destructoid member StriderHoang (a.k.a. Marcel Hoang) back when we worked for the college newspaper at Cal State Long Beach. We worked as editors for the Daily 49er and I was also part of Marcel's Gaming Club.

Anyhow, this is just an introduction. I hope everyone will enjoy my future stories on Destructoid.
