As we all know, today Bethesda released the first DLC package for Fallout 3 on the XBOX 360. Operation: Anchorage.
First off let me say that I unconditionally LOVED Fallout 3, to me it was perfect, it could do no wrong. So I was, to say the least, VERY excited about Operation: Anchorage. And again Bethesda did not disappoint me with this DLC. Taking place inside a VR simulation that you are asked to enter by the Brotherhood Outcasts , you know those guys in the red and black power armor that broke off from the Brotherhood that helps you out for final half of the game, Operation:Anchorage is a simulation of the battle of Anchorage Alaska in January 2077 (This date is on one of the newspaper slides that show up on the loading screen). Your character takes the role of an American Army special ops soldier charged with taking back Anchorage from the Chinese army currently overtaking the area. After the initial assault on the heavy artillery on the cliffs of Anchorage, you have three more objectives.
1) Destroy a fuel depot so the Chinese can no longer fuel their Chimera Tanks, which are modified drilling machines, kinda look like a miniature Shagohad from MGS3.
2) Takeover a Chinese listening post so the American Army can use it ti spy on Chinese transmissions.
3) Once the two prior objectives are complete, the player must take down a pulse barrier that prevents the army from taking down the Chinese stronghold.
All 4 objectives can be competed by a veteran player in about 2 hours, as usual however you can explore to your hearts content. After the first part of the mission you gain control of a small squad which you can customize which type of unit is int he squad. The squad is useful at points, but can just as easily be left behind, with out consequence. There is also a small diversion where you can find 10 pieces of intel in Anchorage, though I'm not sure what they are for.
I was entertained, and was not let down by Operation: Anchorage. I highly recommended it for everyone who wants to wander the wasteland once more... Just be warned.. its Fucking Cold.
So school has started back up for many of us college age DTOID members, myself included, BUT that is no reason for us not to have some fun with mindlessly, gory violence. AM I RIGHT?

Walking into one of the 3 Gamestop stores at my local mall yesterday to pick up Catslevania: Order of Ecclesia, I came upon something I had never seen or even heard of before.I was intrigued enough to take a look at it and with a $25 dollar price tag, I snagged it and bought it.
What I found yesterday was the Last Stand Edition Gears of War 2 Official Strategy guide. Yes a strategy guide for Gears of War 2, I was a little confused too. Why would you need a strategy guide fr Gears of War 2? I certainly have no idea. But my love for this game and the fact that the guide looks damn awesome made me pick it up.

The guide is a hardcover , 319 page guide to all that is GoW 2. The guide is very in depth with everything from area maps, walkthroughs, collectible locations, weapon specs, to multiplayer maps and tips for each map and each mode including Horde. It includes strategies for the throwback maps as well.
But what sets this guide apart from a regular softcover one?
Well besides the fact that its hardcover, the last 16 pages are dedicated to a sneak preview of the Gears of War comic book series, and an CG art gallery.
It comes with a numbered lithograph of concept art for Skorge, signed by the artist.
And a fold out double sided poster that has all the collectible locations in the back and a image of a battle in the Hollow on the front.
Collectors, Limited and Special editions, we love them, we want them, we are proud to show them off and say that we own them. At least for a little while. Now Ive got nothing against these game editions, I own my fair share after all. My question is, what do we do with them after we take the game out, beat it and move on to the next? What do we do with the boxes, add-ons, extra stuff that comes in them?
Well, off the top of my head, I can recall that I own, the Halo 2 &3 collectors editions, Fallout 3 (the lunch box only edition), and Gears of War 2.
Halo 2, yeah old news, but as for the topic at hand it is currently sitting inside the game room in a drawer under the TV, rusting. Halo 3’s ridiculous $130 Legendary Edition (That wasn’t very limited. I’m pretty sure you can still find them at your local Best Buy, as of the last time I checked). The box was sitting in my closet collecting dust, I needed more stuff to decorate my wall, SO I took the outer sleeve of the box, cut it open and made into a wall decoration. The promotional helmet, is in my younger brother's room due to his undying love for the Halo series.
For Fallout 3, Vault-Boy currently resides atop my 360, until I move back to my dorm, when he will take the place of my 360 in my room till we return in the summer.
The Vault-Tec Lunch Box currently sits on my bed side, housing the game, the making of dvd, and the art book. A very nifty use for it that I have found is that it can not only house the game, dvd, and art book, but it has enough space left for about 4 more 360 games.
Mine however only houses 3 additional games thanks to the Gears of War 2 collector’s edition sitting at the bottom of the lunch box. The art book and the picture of Dom and Maria, are still inside the box as well.
So DTOID, what about you guys? Any of your collectors editions on display, in a closet, or even *gasp* thrown away?

I enjoy in the partaking of video games, critically looking at games and ranting about them.
Also I watch anime and read manga. It's mostly mainstream stuff, though I do like to dive into the old school stuff every once in a while.
I listen to rock, punk and metal. I'll listen to anything that is not reggaeton (if you have never heard it consider yourself blessed). Also, The Misfits is the best band ever.
