Walking into one of the 3 Gamestop stores at my local mall yesterday to pick up Catslevania: Order of Ecclesia, I came upon something I had never seen or even heard of before.I was intrigued enough to take a look at it and with a $25 dollar price tag, I snagged it and bought it.

What I found yesterday was the Last Stand Edition Gears of War 2 Official Strategy guide. Yes a strategy guide for Gears of War 2, I was a little confused too. Why would you need a strategy guide fr Gears of War 2? I certainly have no idea. But my love for this game and the fact that the guide looks damn awesome made me pick it up.

Front

Back

The guide is a hardcover , 319 page guide to all that is GoW 2. The guide is very in depth with everything from area maps, walkthroughs, collectible locations, weapon specs, to multiplayer maps and tips for each map and each mode including Horde. It includes strategies for the throwback maps as well.

But what sets this guide apart from a regular softcover one?

Well besides the fact that its hardcover, the last 16 pages are dedicated to a sneak preview of the Gears of War comic book series, and an CG art gallery.

It comes with a numbered lithograph of concept art for Skorge, signed by the artist.

And a fold out double sided poster that has all the collectible locations in the back and a image of a battle in the Hollow on the front.

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

Nice. Saw that before and was tempted to grab it, but I never play Gears. It'd look nice sitting next to my Fable II collector's Guide, my Fallout 3 Collector's Guide and my two Zelda Hardcover collector's guides.

See, I would never have picked it up if it didnt look so nice and included some collectibles that I deemed worthy to be collected. Really with the plethora of information and help on the internet, having a guide be well made and manufactured to be a collector's item from the get go is the only way I see for guides to survive. (Necros said something along these lines to me earlier, and I agreed, and this is my take on it.)
