I can only hope that this is an isolated incident. After all, there is no way that anyone can expect every item that comes off an assembly line to be in perfect condition. But unfortunately my kicker/bass drum pedal is not working. The rest of the drums are working fine, but the kick pedal - alas! - was flatlined right out of the box. Although this is not definitive, I also connected a multimeter to the plug and pressed the pedal several times HARD with no change on the meter at all. sigh I've already created a hardware/warranty incident with EA.
So, I don't know who else has bought this for the Wii; but considering the widely-reported issues with other Rock Band hardware, I can't say that this whole thing comes as a surprise to me.
The game itself is pretty good, though. I like some of the features that Guitar Hero III doesn't have, such as the solo points for certain songs and the bonus points for perfect solo play in other songs. Some of the songs are ... well, I'm not going to comment about that because I still have a significant number of songs to go through. I would love to say how much better the drums are when compared to Guitar Hero III (yes, that's a joke), but right now the drums are just about on par.
So, I figured that I would give everyone else a head's up to this in case this because a second wave of EA hardware problems.

Sorry to hear it failed on you. I heard the drums are quieter though, and that coutns for alot becaus ethe little time I've spent with the game, calibration problems and loud drums got on my nerves bad.
LOL! Nice. :) The funny part is that PC configuration will totally SMOKE both the PS3 and XB360. I guess that BF2, BF2142, HL2, CoD4, R6V, and R6V2 that I play regularly on it still aren't enough for ego dickheads like MrSadistic and Zserv, though.
The drums are definitely quieter, but not by a lot. They have a rubber surface out of the box, but the drum pad silencers that are available for sale make a bigger difference.
oh that right, there's the PS2 version...cept they get "expansion discs"....lol.
Meh, hopefully when GH:OT comes out, a hard drive will be announced (possibly collaboration?) and you can get some delicious DLC for dat Wee.
Sorry about your drums. Hopefully with your replacement, it'll be great :)
AT LEAST I HAVE DLC WITHOUT "EXPANSION DISCS" LOLOLOL

For the drum pedal, they had it replaced within three days. I just put in the request online, received the new pedal, then shipped the broken one back. With the drums, it's taking a little longer since I had to wait for the empty box then send the broken ones in, and now I'm waiting for the replacement.
So yeah, high marks for EA customer service from me. It just blows that the peripherals break so easily in the first place.
Since I already have the thing and it does not get the majority of my gaming time (my PC does), it's utterly stupid to spend $500 on another console that will get even less of my time (thanks to splitting it off the Wii time).
But - hey - those idiots are just proving how stupid console fanboys are. It doesn't matter whether you enjoy the game or whether the game gives you the satisfaction that you want. Oh, hell, no! It's all about the CONSOLE that you play it on! Yeah, that's it!
Morons.
Are you kidding? If I'm going to get a 360, it won't be the "tard pack". :) I want whatever will allow me to utilize the console to its fullest, including HDMI connectivity to my TV. So, the only 360 I'd consider buying is the Elite which is $450 right there.
Besides, what is the "wrong" console? I know that the Wii has its limitations, and I have no problems with that. It's not my concern that some vocal, narrow-minded individuals do have a problem with that.
I'm with ya bro. I only own Rock Band by virtue of the fact that the feature-hungry PS2 version dropped to 100 bucks. And justifying the purchase was tough even then.
I'd love to be a trust-fund baby, or still living at home with my parents, and thus be able to buy whatever games I want whenever I get a bug up my ass to buy them, but alas, reality has something different to say, and just like you, I can't muster up the cash to buy games but every once in awhile. So I get what I can for the hardware I have, and I don't lement or envy what I don't.
That said, John B, they're not really so much giving you shit because of the console you're playing the game on, but because the game is less fully featured than the 360/PS3 versions. Even so, I'm with you. As long as you enjoy the game, the superfluous features don't matter. A lack of DLC might be a little annoying (I'm not in love with the default set-list, and the upcoming song-pack disk is full of stuff I don't want), but even that's not a big deal in light of the fact that they're at least trying to throw Wii and PS2 owners a bone.
I think that the biggest issue with the game though, is that they announced Rock Band 2, and that it's apparently supposed to hit no to far in the future, soon after the first game hit the Wii. Also, Guitar Hero IV is supposed to be hitting the Wii with all the features of the 360 and PS3 versions, which sort of makes the Rock Band's pared down feature set seem like a bit of a slap in the face.
I enjoy the PS2 version for what it is though. There aint another game on the market in the US that lets me bang on the drums like this game does. I friggin' love it.
