Looks awesome, really anticipating this. Although really, all they needed to say was "this is the sequel to Ninja Gaiden" and I'd be hyped as hell. Come to think of it, they do pretty much do that in the trailer.
Hey, that guy has the Halo helmet!
So... Cheesy. They should have picked a really upbeat happy voice.
fun fact: Tomonobu Itagaki has robot eyes, which is why he never takes off his sunglasses...
funnier fact: Movie not available
Jonathan to the rescue...
Oh my stars and garters! All this violence is giving me the vapors!
"The sequel to the original" is probably one of the worst lines in any trailer I've ever seen.
'The sequel to the original' and he prolly got payed three times as much as the average dtoid-lurker to make that... what an unfair world this is...
jetsetlemming: See, I was going to mock that line, but realized it kind of makes sense with Ninja Gaiden Sigma being released. I figure they're differentiating Gaiden and Sigma.
Blood..heh.
It appears I've been beaten to the chase, but still..."The Sequel to the Original"? Honestly, I'd consider the sequel to the original to be The Dark Sword of Chaos, but maybe that's just me. If anything, this is the sequel to the remake.
The only thing missing is an online death match mode,how fucking sweet would that be?Ninja vs ninja 1 on 1.They could make it happen,and the 360 could use all the exclusive online games they can get.But at this point I think it is pretty doubtful they have any sort of dm implemented.I am however fairly confident that the solo campaign mode alone will be more than enough to fill the void left from the far too easy DMC4.
i am the only one that thinks that scream from the beginning is from star craft?
@T9X,
Wait that wasn't the preview of a DMC title? This just looks like "DMC: No Guns."
Who couldn't like a game where you play a borderline-superpowered ninja who chops monsters to pieces and leaves them spurting blood like a crazy anime?
DO WANT
Eeee! Blood, shiny swords, over-the-top violence and ninjas that actually dress in black. What more could a girl want?
Goddammit, I need an Xbox 360!
Definitely not a game for the squeamish.
This is what gaming is all about, IMO. If it's like the first, it'll be made of win, gameplay wise. It's going to be awesome.
@Saxiums:
That scream is one of the most over-used sound effects of all time, you will find it almost everywhere, be it movies or games. So yes, it problably was in Starcraft too :)
It's so horribly cheesy, it baffles me that it is still in frequent use...
fucking awesome HD trailer.
Fun fun.
@Saxiums & Mekanikles
That is the well known Wilhelm scream you are referring too. Star Wars brought the scream back, and it's been in use since then.
Here is a compilation video that shows it used in lots of shows and movies (note that the Venture Bros love to use it). Pretty interesting that it's still being used when it was originally recorded in the 50's.
As for Gaiden II... /drool
I'd just like to point out that if there is any controversy surrounding this game, it will probably be as a result of a cleavage bearing supporting character, not the ridiculously graphic violence. Especially in America.
God I hope they throw a few cheats in or at the very least, make it so failed Boss fights let you respawn at the start of the fight instead of half a level back.
Will there be milkshakes as well?
Must get through Ninja Gaiden Black quick
Hopefully this will lower the price of the PS3 one as I want it but I do not want to pay $69 for it :(
*drool* Looks so good
dammit i was gonna say the exact same thing as Peronthious
now my comment fails
@ Mxy: LOL
That's not the Wilhelm scream. The Wilhelm scream is different. This is a popular scream too, though.
@THE WRATH - I thought it was confirmed months ago that you will be able to swap between weapons on-the-fly via the D-pad, just as you can swap styles OTF in DMC4.
Was this taken out?
@TPJesus
I still need to beat black as well. I'm only on the third level. =(
so.. there wasn't blood in NGS or NG:Black?
Seriously, just because there are a little bit more decapitation moves and some more weapons doesn't make it for me. If you are a new NG-gen lover, go have fun.
You know what would make it fun? if monsters could decapitate YOU! thats right bishes, you mess up, monster lops off a arm, now you have only 1 arm to fight with.
@THE WRATH - Well, damn. That's a pretty presumptuous last statement after just explaining how the system is missing a feature.
I'll still get this game. I enjoyed NG:Black and I'll be buying NG:Sigma once I buy the MGS4 PS3 bundle... but as of now, it's my opinion that DMC3 was a fighting masterpiece that is unbeaten by any other game in its genre.
The scream in the trailer doesn't officially have a name, usually it's just referred to as "stock scream". This page references quite a few different commonly-used sound effects in movies, tv shows, and games. Many of the sounds have been in use for decades.
yeah I know that scream as well, but it has no real name
it was also in Crash bandicoot
It's popular as hell. I remember it being used in:
1)The intro to Aah! Real Monsters
2)Serial Mom (the bathroom discovery scene)
3)I think some prison guard used the scream when he got murderized in Face/Off.
The scream cracks me up. It sounds so...I dunno...false?
DO WANT:
Ninja Gaiden II
I think Ill preorder this and falout 3 - have you guys seen the lunchboxes you can get with the fallout 3 preorders? badass. that said, I want to play NG2. BADLY.
Sexy sexy sexy.
can't wait for this game
I can't remember if it's the sound of an Academy or what. But it's definitely Starcraft.
@ THE WRATH
The game is meant to be hard. Really fucking hard. In the the words of its creator, "In most games the enemies are there for you to kill. In Ninja Gaiden, the enemies are there to kill you." And it is a greater game for it.
Strange, we just got a request to remove this trailer a year later by the ESRB.
Hmm... what in this trailer was so different from any other piece of NG2 footage that it needed to be removed?
