About Me
WARNING:The following description makes liberal use of the little ( ) symbols, so deal with it.

Sup dudes, I have an Xbox 360 (request me, I need friends... sadness...). I love old school games(Pac-Man, Galaga, Super Mario World, Streets of Rage, you get the idea.) I also harbor a love for the more modern(Resident Evil 4(die zombie bitches!!!!), HALO(YES I AM A NERD), Beyond Good and Evil(a true masterpiece), Mass Effect, Bioshock, Call of Duty 2 & 4.

I have an Xbox 360, although I suck at achievements.
I have a Gamecube, which pretty much left me in the dark of modern gaming a couple of years back, a Playstation with a large collection of RPG's, which I have come to despise, a Nintendo 64 which I never really played, damn Playstation taking up most of my playtime, and a still(somehow) fully functioning Super Nintendo & boy do I love that thing...

I attend high school in LA, shout out to my peeps!(not really)

I love indie music, makes me feel sort of crass and snotty though...Although I've recently acquired a taste for classic punk music and underground hip-hop(weird I know).

Oh, and I like stamp collecting and taking long strolls down the beach...

The Sickest, Most Offensive Book I Have Ever Read aka This Book Fuckin' Rocks aka This Blog Has Been A Long Time Coming

Wow, I can't believe I'm still writing on my D-toid blog. It's not like I have a fan base or anything... Still I get a kick out of posting my thoughts on a board full of strangers, so have at it. It has been far too long.

Ever since school started again here in LA I've been up to my ass in homework, chores and general dickery which has prevented me from posting my inane, rambling, incomprehensible thoughts on D-Toid.

Anyway, onto my main topic. About a month ago I had the pleasure/misfortune of having read Warren Ellis's Crooked Little Vein, a little book of about 200+ pages that reads like a hardcore fetish porno crossed with the best of Raymond Chandler or your favorite mystery auteur. Micheal McGill, a PI stuck in LA finds his services requested by the White House Chief of Staff, a drug fiend, who wants him to find the "real" Constitution of the United States, one bound in the skin of an alien who pestered Ben Franklin on his voyage to France to treaty with the dirty Europeans. Yeah...

The book includes encounters with Godzilla bukkake fetishists, saline solution injections to the balls and various other curiosities found across the good 'ol wholesome US of A. Near the end of the book there's an encounter with a serial killer aboard an airplane that left me with chills. Pure poetry.

Ellis, like many foreign writers, seems to understand our country better than us. He shows it for what it is: a weird, morbid place full of various weirdos and freaks, all of them just a little less strange than we would like them to be. They are after all just regular Americans who happen to be into something kinky. And really, who isn't? As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with that.

Any of you guys read it? Other recommendations from Warren Ellis or other authors?

Read 1984. It's not like this book, but it will scare you shitless for the future.

Warren has of course done a lot of comics. If you like Superhero's, you should check out Planetary. I can also recommend Transmetropolitan, but its a strange creature altogether.

As for books: try Caught Stealing by Charlie Huston. Its a great thriller by a guy who broke into comics not too long ago.

I did not like Rant at all. I couldnt even finish it. Chuck Palahnuik let me down on that one, but this, this sounds somewhat interesting

Buddha, how could you not like Rant? if you can find the time, reread it a second time, i enjoyed it much more the 2nd time.

I hear I hope they serve beer in hell is an amusing read, written by Tucker Max.

Also, i just finished Average American Male by Chad Kultgen is an interesting read.

It just didnt appeal to me. I got to page like 200, i really dont remember. It was a Palahnuik book but I dont think he quiet pulled off the interview type style he was going for. His other books are much, much better.

hellz yeah, Brave New World and 1984 are classics. I always preferred BNW. Palahniuk never really appealed to me.

If you want some fucked up comics, check out The Boys by Garth Ennis.

I love Palahnuik, but Rant did not appeal to me whatsoever. Choke and Fight Club are amazing

Read Transmetropolitan if you like Warren Ellis.

@buddha
I buy mine in single issues from a comic book store. I'd suggest looking online, as things are rather dark. In fact, if you like this sort of thing go for any Garth Ennis books. My suggestions: The Punisher MAX series, Preacher, and Just A Pilgrim being among my favorites he's done.
