This makes me very, VERY sad.
Let the Right On In is without a doubt the best vampire movie I've ever seen. It should be available on Netflix's instant watch feature. It's truly the anti-Twilight.
I also had no idea that there was going to be a remake. I have a feeling all of the subtlety is going to be stripped out, and replaced with Twilight pre-teen B.S. in order to attract vapid teenage girls. Ugh.
It's so sad that they're actually remaking a film that is barely a year old just because American audiences are too stupid to read subtitles. I mean, I wont necessarily automatically think the movie is shitty just because it's a remake, but I see no need to ever actually watch it.
I think many Americans don't mind subtitles if the movie is done right. Looks at pans labyrinth, everyone I know that saw it liked it, and thought it was great even with the subtitles.
But, many foreign films don't have a good production value, and I think that american remakes are good for that.
I love Let The Right One In, and I can join you in your weeping as Hollywood destroys yet another original concept/good movie.
This is worse than the My Sassy Girl remake.
Bloody remakes -_-
C'mon guys. They just started principle photography this week. There was also some optimistic casting news this week.

The article states that Elias Koteas is playing the part of a police officer. If you've read the book, you might expext the "Tommy" sub-plot to be included.
I fucking loved the original and know that nothing will ever replace it. That being said, I'm keeping an open mind for the re-adaptation. Let's not damn the thing before giving it a watch.
Oh shit, they're remaking Let the Right One In. goddammit, why?
Eh, the poster's alright for a teaser, and the American version isn't a remake, it's a re-adaptation of the book that the original movie is based on. So it could be cool by using different elements that the other movie didn't use (like the changed ending). I still recommend seeing the original though.
I.....I've never even heard about this....So how would this be classified? A horror movie? Some sort of action film?
And I don't agree with the idea that someone not liking subtitles would be based on the intelligence. I actually enjoy reading, but I read books for such occasions. When I'm actually watching something I want to be able to watch it instead of just looking at the bottom of the screen. But even so, I've seen a lot of subtitled movies and enjoyed many of them and thought the subs weren't so bad. But I still submit that at least one thing that would make any of those movies I saw better would be a good solid dub. And in that spirit dubs are far better than just a complete remake of something that you guys claim to be good. I'll have to watch this one though.
They did the same thing with [REC]. Immediate english remake for people too lazy to read subtitles. Thats right. I called you lazy!
@Benson It kind of defies classification; it has elements of horror, bildungsroman, romance, and VAMPIRES, but it can't be pigeonholed into any one genre. The entire movie is really subtle and muted, it's like a nightmare. You should definitely check it out.
I don't have very high hopes for the remake, does anyone know what else the director has done? It's not going to be the same movie, but maybe it will be good for different reasons. As long as they don't turn it into Twilight (oh please god) I'll at least see it in theaters.
@Psychomax
It's the director of Cloverfield. Again though, this isn't a straight remake, it's a re-adaptation of the book that the other movie is based on which didn't use certain elements and changed others (like the ending).
Whaaaaaat, they're remaking that? LAME.
I just heard about this movie, was very interested in checking it out. Pretty strange that they're remaking it for the US... Hollywood needs to learn what 'authenticity' is. I'm going to try to get my hands on the original before this comes out. Poster is pretty bad.
@GuitarAtomik, that's pretty cool news. Hated Cloverfeild though. While we're talking about movies, anybody who liked Paranormal Activity should be shot.
@perri
Agreed about Paranormal Activity. Jesus.
Anyone who says people should be shot, should be shot. Inlcuding me.
Hello? Where did everybody go? Am....am I all alone? Oh....Oh my, so much blood.....why is everybody shot?!!?
*BANG*
