New video game podcast: Pixel Pill
Jedah Doma | 10:24 PM on 04.29.2009 7 comments

So I've been a little absent from the site as of late, but it's all for a good reason.

From the creators of Press Start and Substance TV comes your bi-weekly dose of gaming goodness that you won’t get anywhere else, it’s Pixel Pill! We're kinda like video game fiber. Though I'm not sure if I want to see anyone taking a pixelated video game dump.

That’s right, I've teamed up with Nick and Gerard from Press Start Comic to create a new podcast about all things gaming that not many people talk about. We had some much fun BS’ing over Live that we decided that we should just record it and maybe people will listen to it. Plus the need for quality podcasts is much needed. Our friends over at Pineconeattack are one of the few podcasts I listen to on a regular basis, so we hope to bring more goodness to the table.

The premiere episode of Pixel Pill is up and ready to go. This episode, or dose as we like to call it, we cover the video game company Cave, one of the finest makers of shoot em ups (shumps). Not sure who Cave is, then listen to this podcast. Heard about Cave but know very little about them, then listen to this podcast. Do you know everything about Cave and love them like the son you never had, then listen to this podcast.

This took a little bit longer then I expected, but the process should be faster as time goes by. So lay back, relax, get yourself a tall glass of water, and enjoy the smooth goodness of Pixel Pill.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on the show. Good or bad.

Shameless promotion. Were all guilty of it in some way. But it sure as hell does NOT make it right.

I wouldn't say shameless promotion as I have posted many blog entries that have nothing to do with my work. This isn't being spammed across the internet, it's a new podcast and we want to hear people's opinions on it. There is nothing wrong with posting things I am involved with in my blog.

The intro had an pretty good albeit somewhat generic song, and I did enjoy the announcer's voice. And you guys sound pretty clear and distinct, which I see as important in these podcasts if you want to know who's who. And I may be slightly biased since I am an easily amused man, but you have managed to keep my interest throughout this entire thing.

Excellent detail on who Cave is and what type of games they do. I didn't know who they were prior to this but now I do so I'm happy because I've been a lover of shmups. If there were any nitpicks, uh, one guy sounded slightly nasally and he sounded like a robot at one point. As cool as he sounded, I could barely understand him. Other than that, I have no problems.

You probably already saw my comment on the forum, but in case you missed it a few of the facts herein were off - only an uber-dork like me would notice though, heh heh.

I've got no personal problem with posts like this, but yeah, some more DT-exclusive stuff would be cool. ;)

Thanks for the comments so far guys. And Bullet, what parts would you say needed work on. I'm like you in the sense of getting the details right, and if for only my own knowledge, I'd like to know the correct facts. Plus it's Cave, and I gotta get it right. :)

I'd have to listen to the whole thing again to make a list, but offhand I recall it being said that Taito ported the PS2 versions of Mushi and Ibara - they only published it, Cave ported those themselves. There were a handful of others, but that one I distinctly recall.

Of course, if you're ever unsure about a certain fact you could always look around the forum, or give me a holler. :)

I'll keep that in mind my good friend. Next time I'll drop you a line if we have some more shmup goodness to cover (which I know we will) :)
