What if I've finally turned into what they've always said I would turn into? A maniac. A psycho killer. A guy who enjoys quoting Sin City.

In a brief description, I play all genres of games. My personal favorites are and always will be platformers and shoot 'em ups. Galaga is probably the first shoot 'em up I have ever played and still manages to hold my attention to this day. Platformers, jeez, far too many for me to name. There are a few FPSs I like, but only if they manage to be different enough from the rest. I have my fair share of fun with other genres as well. Except fighters, I tend to be pretty bad at those but it still doesn't put a hamper on the amount of fun I can get from them.

I was born in 1990, my first video game system was a Sega Genesis and it was probably the best thing I had ever had the chance to play. As the years went, as did my interest in the video games field. Parents and relatives usually got me game consoles for birthday and christmas gift, you wouldn't believe how excited I was when I got my first SNES. My older brother and I did all we could to pool money together to buy GameBoys (Possibly a GameGear at some point as well) and eventually the Playstation 1 and 2. I can safely say that I have interacted with every Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft, and a few Atari consoles and handhelds at least once. As of now, I still play games as often as I can, despite my game library has not been expansive as it once was when I was in my "prime." Since GameFly and various other rental places popped up, I have still been able to keep playing to my heart's content.

As of now, college usually eats up some days. Whenever I'm not doing college activities, I am improving my drawing abilities, watching movies, expanding my musical tastes both new and old, partying with friends, eating cultural food and, of course, playing games.

And I am a sucker for just about anything film noir, enough so that I occasionally write in that style. Rad stuff.

Acknowledging The Omnipotence That Is 3D Pinball: Space Cadet

Pinball, it is no suprise to anyone that it is an obnoxious game which catches the player's attention by using the power of bright lights and loud sounds to lure them in. It's a game where every single table has a different layout, conveying a new feeling of entering a new world. So many pinball machines, each one manages to be much more different from the last, even though they all share the same goal: Get the high score.

The pinball machine is indeed a machine known to many a person. The simplistic nature of it manages to lure the player with its accessibility. It's one of those easy to play and hard to master mantras that captures the world by storm. But like any carnival game, they always managed to be rigged for the purpose of getting all the moolah in your pockets. It's no fun having all the change you have in your pocket be gone in a matter of seconds. I knew there had to be a way to get my pinball fix without getting ripped off. This is where virtual pinball comes in, leading to what is possibly the greatest virtual pinball machine game ever:

3D Pinball: Space Cadet. There are several reasons why this one manages to the best thing ever.

One is the fact that it has a space theme and everything is always better when you add space into the formula. Super Mario 64 managed to be an alright game and Super Mario Sunshine was dull. So how do we change it? Add space to it, and thus Super Mario Galaxy is created and becomes the best Mario game ever. See? Space. It makes anything better.

Next is the story. You are a space cadet, but with all of your hard work and dedication, you can go up the ranks and earn upgrades to make your spaceship become more pimptastic and get laid (read: earn more points). Metal Gear Solid is acclaimed for having such an enticing storyline, capable of moving the hearts of the toughest gamers out there, proving another way that video games can be seen as something other than entertainment. And you look at it again, and it's boring so you want more action. With a game revolving around a space traveller, you couldn't find more action if you tried. Also, with multiple story paths, you get the opportunity to choose what happens next.

The missions are so detailed to the point that you have to master certain abilities to perfection. Take accuracy, for example, you need to focus on hitting specific targets if you want to get closer to upgrading your ship as well as get closer to a higher score. It perfectly re-enacts how space travel works. If an enemy was coming at you, you'd better try your hardest if you want to live. And this is all in a pinball game, out of all things to teach you this stuff. This further proves that pinball machines can educate you with life-saving facts such as these. As well as proving that college professors are wusses in not teaching you important stuff like this.

And lastly, it finally gives a legitimate reason telling why Vista sucks. Not because the accessibility to Vista gives newcomers a lot of worry, not because there are problems regarding what applications Vista can and cannot use, and certainly not because of various driver problems. The reason Vista sucks is because 3D Pinball: Space Cadet does not come with it. You could imagine how upset I was when I got a Sony Vaio not too long ago and I didn't find this game to grace me with its presence. Now that's blasphemy.

So there you go, plenty of convincing reasons why 3D Pinball: Space Cadet is the greatest game, nay, the greatest form of media to grace the gaming world. There's no way that you can argue after viewing those facts.

You blended sarcasm and realism in such a wild way there, my tastebuds are funked out.

It is great to find Space Cadet have a simple presentation but still enjoyable. I actually liek how it has an "academy" on it and the tunells are considered as "wormholes"

It is not the most mind-blowing gaming experience ever but undeniably satisfying.

XD I'm amazed you fit a Vista complaint/story into a tale about how you love your pinball so. I did not expect that, well done.

I will say this, whenever I'm in a pub, I always have a go at the pinball, its too damn addictive, you just have to beat that high score.

And yes Space does make things better e.g Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, but not Super Mario :P long live 64.

Oh my god I remember this game, and playing it for hours on end before I knew how to download things. What an unexpected blog!

@Zippy
I thought I was the only one who thought 64 was better than Galaxy.

Nice one. I remember having a collection of 3 or 4 pinball tables exactly like this one on an old Windows 95/98 system. Pretty sure they were made by the same company because the physics and art style were nearly exact to Space Cadet. One was a space themed one just like Space Cadet, another was a castle and dragon theme but I can't remember the third. Are you going to do Hearts and Solitaire next?

Ya know? You're right about Vista. I never had any of the other issues that seemed to plague many people, but the lack of this godly game really disappointed me.

@Lurdafur, likely not. Everyone has played the game in some way or form. Also, it's too linear with a lack of optional paths, forcing you to do one thing. Plus, it's cards, it's not very exciting stuff.

Wow, dyslexia accidentally strikes again. Apologies for misspelling your name, Lurfadur, rushing to type out stuff always does that to me.

Also, I appreciate the comments you guys left, it gives me more incentive to do weird stuff like this because I love writing stuff and love it more when there are people out there who enjoy said stuff. Even though some comments just come out of nowhere. Seriously, wth HydroTonix? >:[
