Here's American Gladiators, shut up!
JT706 | 9:26 PM on 01.06.2008 20 comments

Xtreme camera angles? Check.

Explosions at completely inopportune times? Check.

Splash pools in place of gym mats? Check.

Fire? Check.

Commentators who call the action about as well as I do? Check.

A tearjerking story at the beginning? Check.

Subject of said tearjerking story spraining her ankle halfway through the first game? Check.

Some douchebag riding his Joust Q-tip like a pony after winning by a technicality? Check.

Hulk Hogan checking every five minutes to ensure that all athletes involved are, in fact, "bringing it"? Check.

Women on TV who actually look like they can kick my ass? Refreshingly, check.

Pituitary retards banging their fucking skulls together while they congratulate me on living in the land of freedom? Check.

American Gladiators, welcome back. Television missed you.

Yeah I have to admit, the remake of American Gladiators was pretty good. I mean most of it was more cheesy than the original, but it was still decent. The only thing that bothered me was that some of the matches looked rigged.

Of, course they had to put in some "drama". It's what every great reality show has.

C'mon! You missed the part with the woman who banged her face into a metal pole causing it to bleed! =D That was the best part!

Get rid of the mats, add some aligators or tigers, inject everybody with steroids and hallucinatory drugs, and give them machetes and it might live up to the name Ameriacan "Glaidiators."

Also I wont miss a show either.

Actually, some of it was rigged to make it more dramatic than it was. The last "Eliminator" matchup between the two chicks, for example. The winner actually finished almost 1 1/2 minutes ahead of the bleeding Marine Corps chick, but they edited it to make it look like she was 20-30 seconds behind.

This reminds me of the game show from "The Running Man", ya know... well without the killing of contestants.

I'm loving this. And they added some variations of events from Most Extreme Elimination Challenge and Ninja Warrior.
And the Hulkster hosts!
It's the recipe for success.

I've gotta say that Helga was a huge disapointment. She better pick it up in the next couple weeks. I had high, operatic expectations for her.

I came around to Titan though. The guy is like a modern day Mr. Perfect. Hilarious.

I dont know if anyone knows or noticed or cares, but Gina Carano is one of the gladiators i think named Crush. She is a top ranked female mixed martial arts fighter.

Helga is from Texas I think, thats what disappointed me and how tired they got in the Eliminator. I dont remember anyone *that* tired in the original show. Maybe thats cause its was 14+ years ago.
