Ultrasound And It's Great Gaming Purpose!

So, how many of you guys love your gaming controllers? I do. Some scientists from the University of Tokyo have found a way to destroy our old way of playing games and replace it with ultrasonic waves that allow the user to touch virtual objects out of thin air.

"Using an array of ultrasonic transducers and a camera that tracks hand position, the system focuses the pressure of sound waves into mid-air shapes that users can actually feel with their bare hands."

Crazy huh? I wonder if Nintendo has looked into this? Or maybe Microsoft? Only time will tell. All I know is that it would be fucking sweet to feel a object thats in game. Imagine being able to reach out and unlock a door thats in a game without pressing a button. Or feel those big tits on your Final Fantasy XXXIIIXIXII character. From the sound of it, we might not have to wait much longer to find out.

Sounds downright amazing, but I don't understand how soundwaves could ever be perceived as a solid object. Seems like everyday we're hearing cutting edge shit like this in development. Science is really taking off lately.
