MGS4 Confusion and Spoiling: Not a good thing.
Itchy | 5:31 PM on 06.07.2008 5 comments

As a hardcore MGS fan, I feel the need to stand up and fight (at least squeal) against this tyranny, against this evil. Why would anyone want to willingly spoil anything for anyone? The Bioshock spoilers were almost unbearable, the twist was ruined for me before the disc was even spinning in my 360. For a game like Bioshock, story may not have been so important, but it was important nevertheless.

Now, when we come to a game that revolves entirely around the story, where every action you do is in relation to accomplishing a goal that leads you to a cut-scene, story is significantly important. Like I said, I'm a hardcore fan, and I don't want to see this. I've been replaying the past games the past month in order to remember the story (and partially to brush up on my Solid Snake groans). I think I speak for everyone when I say, stop the spoiling.

Now for the confusion part.

Many people seem to think that the Steel PS3 is the superior bundle, I'm not saying it's everybody, it's a (dumb) minority. They still have to be addressed and corrected.

Steel PS3:
40 gig PS3. Steel finish. No PS2 backwards compatibility. Limited Edition MGS4 pack. Dualshock 3 controller.
Price: $600

Piano Black PS3 (original)
80 gig PS3. Dust attracting finish. Near full PS2 compatibility. Normal edition MGS4 pack. Dualshock 3 controller.
Price: $500

Now, is that crystal-clear?

tbh, I actually want to know the spoilers. I have no interest in MGS, but I do have a burning curiosity.

As much as I strongly desire to play MGS4, I'm going to have to get the story from wikipedia or something. There's no way I'm ever going to have 500 bucks to spend buying a PS3.

The joys of having a job. Money.

I don't want to know the joys of having a wife and kids though.

Urgh...

I totaly agree with you...

Just now, after I completed all three games in the Solid series, I tried to read wikipedia to see if I missed any vital information before I get my hands on MGS4.

People have already started to slip in MGS4 spoilers here and there in the articles. At least I think it was an MGS4 one, considering I never heard of it in the earlier games, but there was no warning or anything.
The one I read wasnt a huge one (I think), but it was certainly an annoying detail, that I wish I'd learn in the game.

Anyway, I guess I'll stay off the internet until Thursday..

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Hi! I'm a pretty cool guy called Jama that reads blogs, plays games and doesn't afraid of anything!
I've got a nifty set-up at home that involved a 360 before I sold it. :(

Now it's just a PS3, a DS and a PSP. Portable gaming FTMFW!
Seriously though, portable gaming is a treat. It's sex, but on the roads. I love being able to whip out the old guy and playing with him until I get tired.

PSN: Kaizoku-ou. Means "Pirate King". Ninja's suck ass anyway.

Gaming has changed. It's no longer about clans, teamwork or even the goal. It's an endless series of griefing, fought by failtards and trolls. Gaming, and it's now consumption of life, has become a well-oiled machine. Gaming has changed. ID tagged "Call of Duty 4" soldiers carry ID tagged Gamertags, use PSN ID tagged gear. Hormones, after gaining an achievement, are released inside their bodies to enhance and regulate their abilities. Sony control. Microsoft control. Nintendo control. Consoles control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control. Gaming has changed. The age of 8-bit Mario's has become the age of control. All in the name of averting financial catastrophe from Ubisoft casual games. And he who controls the controller port 1, controls the first player. Gaming has changed. And when the battlefield is under total control, gaming, becomes routine.
