After watching all three Press Conferences courtesy of Gametrailers live-feed of the show, I have to say that this E3 was amazing! There were a few missing factors that many of us speculated and expected to show, but I 'm sure we'll see them announced soon enough. Of course there is still a ton of E3 left for us to anticipate and be excited about.
Today's press conferences, as you all may already know, mainly consisted of Nintendo and Sony's offerings. While Nintendo's conference was very underwhelming, I want to focus on what Sony has discussed today and whether or not they had a few tricks up their sleeve or if it was a "fake-o" after all. To be fair, I will only be going over the PS3 material because quite frankly I really have no interest in portable gaming. I'm not saying that the PSP Go or any games and features, officially announced, were not a major part of the show and should be disregarded; what I'm saying is that I personally just prefer console gaming.
These are some of the things that captured my attention today:
Rockstar announced an exclusive new IP, Agent. Set in the 1970's, this game is based on espionage and that's all we know so far. I expect this to be a great addition to the new spy/saboteur fad that seems to be spreading amongst the industry.
Square Enix also announced Final Fantasy XIV Online exclusively for the PS3 and PC. I consider this to be the biggest, and my favorite surprise of E3, so far. It looks to be a sequel to the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. While I dislike paying a monthly fee in order to play a game, I might succumb to this drawback as long as the game looks and plays good. The cinematic trailer is absolutely gorgeous, but why expect anything less from Square Enix?
United Front Games surprised us, as well, with ModNation Racers. Just think of Mario Kart with Little Big Planet customization. It looks like a very impressive game with a ton of customizable features and even a race track creator. It's astonishing how deep the creative aspect of the game goes, allowing you to edit everything from the landscape to you're own custom car. It plays much like Mario Kart, with power-ups and weapons, but unfortunately we weren't able to see very much due to time restrictions. I'm really looking forward to this title.
Also, yes, I commend Sony on a great press conference, but I believe Microsoft's was still the best. They had little-to-no downtime, ran for a respectable ammount of time, and gave us a glimpse at shit we hadn't heard about before, whereas Sony gave us boring Jack Trenton and that overly-long ModNations Racers demo, shit we WERE expecting (Kaz even called the PSP Go "the worst-kept secret of E3), and the strangest-looking motion device I've ever seen. But, like I said, props on the GOW3 demo, the FF14 announcement, and the MGS trailer.
P.S. Get my name right next time.
As a looong time fan of GoW, 3 looks, and plays, terrific.
But it was GT5 and the ICO game that I liked the most. :)
That Trico trailer was beautiful, trust team ICO to pull at your heartstrings and make you feel a varitey of emotions all at once!
I'm boycotting all Uncharted 2 and GOW3 footage till the games come out. No point in hounding after something that won't be out for a while.
"and gave us a glimpse at shit we hadn't heard about before"
LOLOLOL...you so silly!
On a serious note, HANNAH MONTANA was the reason Sony won E3, hands down.
Yo, Guilty Gear Banner FTW!
BTW MOD Racers is only possible on the PS3!

Miley Cyrus is taking over the world.
(( Just ask Professor Pew... ))
@ Qraze
I'm with you... NASCAR is a nice addition.
I hope that Mod Nation Racers gameplay/controls are similar to Mario Kart. If so, that game could have some very addictive MP.
I wish they explained more about Agent.
