Codemasters, what have you done to Dragon Rising?
Well, they’ve done a console port. To be honest, it’s quite good. Except for the fact maybe, that it’s a straight console-to-PC port with only one feature added – mouse and keyboard support (hey, that’s better than Resident Evil 4!). With no dedicated servers available it’s nearly impossible to play a decent multiplayer match. People, with what seem to be 56k modems, host 32 player matches that end in a Lag-o-thon. Oh, and there’s no anti-cheat protection, too. Yeah, this should be really fun in about 2-4 weeks.
How can you ruin a game by such obvious mistakes? I cannot think of a shooter, released in the last 2-4 years that had no dedicated server files at launch. Linux files were often missing, but at least Windows files were a possibility! Codemasters has to adress these issues if they want to keep their paying customers happy. Wait, most of the people playing online aren’t even paying customers. The game has no CD-Key.
Now to my USK rating issue. As you may know, Germany is quite strict when it comes to video game violence. But when they rated Dragon Rising, my god, they must have been drunk.
The game features open head wounds after headshots. This game received a 16+ rating. Halo3 has an 18+ rating.
Oh yeah, did I mention body parts flying everywhere?
