Rare claims platforming is still a part of the game, but from what the trailer showed I saw banjo on a rope for a second then climb a ledge. OOOOOOOOOH SO PLATFORMTASTIC!
I want to like this game, I want to believe Rare, but when it comes down to it, it really doesn't seem that platforming (what everyone fucking wanted) is going to be that big in this game. I'll be waiting for Rare to prove me wrong.
I understand your dissapointment. I wanted it to be like the classic BK's too. MS had way to much power when it came to developing this game. MS wants VIVA and this game to bring the casuals in. This is why the game looks so fucking dumb (to a gamer thats played the old one) and cool (to the people that haven't played them.
Also, who gives a shit about blowing up Mario. It was a joke, get off of Nintendos nuts.
We gamers are whiny little bitches. Every game that comes our way has loads of hate thrown it's way. We are jaded, plain and simple. However, with the details given to us about the new Banjo Kazooie title I'll have to ask Rare one important question - WTF?!
I'm all for innovation and new ideas, but Banjo Kazooie has a special place in plenty of gamers hearts because of the wonderful platforming it offered. I'm sure many gamers, including myself, were excited at the thought of a next-gen (sorry, Blehman!) platformer. While the game may still have platforming elements, it seems as if it's steering too far away from them, turning the game into something that isn't Banjo Kazooie.
A game like Zelda would benefit from some radical changes. We've all played countless titles that offer the same formula. After 20+ years of this, we've grown tired of it. Banjo Kazooie on the other hand has only had two major releases (I'm excluding the GBA games) and they're already making dramatic changes. This is a great way to alienate your fanbase.
I thought the mario thing was funny but at the same time... Nintendo sorta gave birth to Banjo Kazooie, and Rare in a way.
"get off of Nintendos nuts."
NEVER!
Nah i'm jk. I'm not a big Nintendo fan at the moment, I just thought it wasn't very subtle at all.
"After 20+ years of this, we've grown tired of it"
Grown tired.....of Zelda....?
I'm sorry VWGTI, I simply can't comprehend what you're saying.
You're not making any sense.
I like how Rare makes Viva Piņata but this is the game that gets to people.. None of us have played the game, so saying anything without playing it is premature. Mario & Sonic seem to have carte blanche when it comes to evolving game-play. If you want to play something that played like Banjo 1 & 2 then play 1 & 2. Till then, sit back, look at it skeptically, maybe even try it *gasp* then say how it sucks.
I don't like the cut of your jib, Bans.
We've seen platforming before. It's old hat and they probably don't have to show us what it looks like. So, it's possible that they're pimping the new stuff because we're already familiar with the old. There could very well be a more even balance between the two play styles.
The problem with videos that are only a couple minutes long is that you can't begin to get the full scope of it. Whining is, at this point, a bit premature.
It's way early. Save your final guillotine until it comes out.
i loved banjo one and two
id consider them a part of my childhood
and for rare to chane it so much!
why it was perfect before
