Could Mega Man 9 contain the hardest achievements yet?
Infinite Obscurity | 5:49 PM on 08.12.2008 15 comments

I usually don't care about stupid crap like achievements, but given the hardcore nature of the Mega Man 9 achievements, I figured I would post them.

Copy Pastad from http://www.mygamercard.net:

Jitterbug
Clear the game in 60 minutes or less. 20

Invincible
Clear the game without dying. 30

Almost Invincible
Clear the game without continuing. 20

No Coffee Break
Clear the game without using any Energy or Mystery Tanks. 10

Peacekeeper
Clear the game by defeating the fewest number of enemies possible. 20

Conservationist
Clear the game by using the least amount of Weapon Energy possible. 20

Gamer’s Day
Clear the game 5 times in 1 day. 20

Whomp Wily!
Clear the game once. 5

Destroyer
Defeat your 1000th enemy. 20

World Warrior
Defeat every type of enemy. 5

Trusty Sidearm
Defeat the 8 Bosses with the Mega Buster. 20

Blue Bomber 10
Defeat a Boss without getting damaged.

Getting these is going to be hard as fuck using the 360's shitty d-pad. Oh well, I'll probably be getting the Wii version anyways, though I'll miss out on earning and then showing off those badass achievements.

Pro Tip: use the shitty analog stick.

I'll be buying the Wii version and the 360 version both. I want to send a message to Capcom that this is the type of sequel I can support.

Those are indeed pretty difficult, which is a good thing in my books.

Thank god my D-pad is magical because some of these achievements are calling my name.

Madcatz makes a pretty decent 360 controller. It's far from perfect, but it's better then the stock one. It also Cut my 40 lines cleared in Tetris from around 3 minutes to somewhere around 2 minutes

i wonder if when it says "defeat" the boss with only the buster.. can i atleast weak the fuck out of the boss using the proper weapon?
hmm

Those don't look that hard for Mega Man vets. Beating it 5 times in one day might get annoying though. If anything I might get it on XBLA over WiiWare just to see how I fare with those achievements. :)

wow, those are quite a challenge.

Trusty sidearm won't be too tough, I think.

No death no continue, that's going to be VERY tricky . . .

I'm buying the WiiWare version, but these are attractive challenges!

@Dead Movie Star whats your magic d-pad made of?

My 360 wireless controller has a piece of pringles lid installed in it and the d-pad works much better. Braid and SF2HF play nicely on it.

Those sound like things I do in the older Megaman games anyway.

I just want to know what the thing means by "Use the least weapon energy possible" and "kill the least number of enemies possible". What's the number we're aiming for? No Special weapons ever? No kills other than bosses? I need a number to work with here Capcom!

what about the analog stick?

Day-um. Someone's probably gonna get all these in 1 day, maybe even 1 sitting.

Yeah, I was also puzzled the wording on a few of those achievements. Maybe it's just killing the bosses, and only using the special weapons on bosses that have no other weaknesses?

I've grown to use the analog stick pretty much exclusively on the 360 controller, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem for me. If it works for Street Fighter and Soulcalibur IV, it'll work for this.

For least number of enemies possible I assume only the ones you have to kill, like minibosses and bosses. For least weapon energy possible, I'm guessing only use special weapons for enemies that you can't either avoid or use the mega buster on, and even then use the right weapon and never miss. Only thing that makes sense really.
