I haven't been playing games as long as some of you. My first console was a Super Nintendo. I missed the beginnings of the video game trend back in the mid-late seventies and the original Nintendo boom back in the 80's. I've been listening to the RetroforceGO! archived episodes lately, and every time they mention an old Nintendo game I haven't played I don't download it on my not emulators.
Listening to so much nostalgia makes me think about the games I used to play. The first game I ever played. So without further ado I present to you:
Anyone else play this? I don't know how many hours of my life that I've poured into this game, but it definitely makes my 200 hour Dragon Quest VIII save file look puny. This game had it all.
It had twin gremlins that threw Molotov cocktails at you.
The controls were excellent and there was actual level variety.
You can ride horsies.
The game was hard. Ball busting hard. Especially for someone in Grade School. I played it anyway though, suffered through the torture of limited continues and one hit deaths, and eventually beat it. To this day it's still my proudest moment in my gaming career.
Put a stop to future casino owners in Sunset Riders.
The point is, I think we all have that one game that's special to us. It might not hold up today as the shining gem we used to think it was, but it still holds a part of our big crumb covered gaming hearts.
To anyone who reads this, what game does that for you?
whoa, i had completely forgotten about this game. i only played it once, and i'm not sure which of my childhood friends had it, but i definitely remember it. i remember liking the art style a lot.
Zombies Ate My Nieghbors for me. Hearing the title alone I was hooked in. I spent a summer with a friend that moved away playing that game nonstop everyday.
Sunset riders is a fun on rails shooter. Plus its a western. More games need to be in the westerns.
My first console was the Nintendo entertainment system with Mario/Duck Hunt. Christmas 1989.
