(Diablo 2 has better everything, including artwork)
ill never forget the day that my dad came home with a copy of Diablo. he said the guy at the store said I'd love it, which i found strange considering he didn't know me.
we popped it in together and started playing.
Warriors rule.
we couldnt figure out how to attack, so we got butt-raped by skeletons. my dad had to go to work, so I turned it off. I was probably ten years old at the time and had no intentions on traversing the dark labyrinth by myself. quite frankly, it scared the shit out of me. so i called my friend steve over. he was in 6th grade, and i found his confidence to be uplifting. so i made him play for me.
He chose the sorcerer and rushed balls first through hordes of zombies, skeletons (armed with shields that had their own faces on it- vain much?) and little red demons at go "Glaah!".
he ran out of mana and equipped an axe he had found. then he had to go home.
I was stuck in middle of an uncleared level with a level 2 sorcerer equipped with an axe. and i didnt know how to open the map.
i stopped playing for a couple of months.
then my friend got the game because she had a crush on me and i told her to get it.
we had fun, we killed the butcher, and after many months of training, (which didnt matter because then we found out about hackz&dupz)- we killed diablo.
the game was finally over, so there was no need to play it. so i didnt. then diablo 2 came out.
[YEARS LATER]
i rediscovered diablo, after being turned off by d2's gratuitous use of the color purple. (also, too many big open field levels) (also, i hate running, they never should have even added the ability to run) (but i guess that makes sense since all the levels are big open fields) (but idk) (they should have just kept it randomly generated dungeons) (thats why i like d1) (i like dungeons) (lol)
and it's just always fun. its monsters and non stop looting. theres always a new and better weapon or item dropped. (unless you have the hax whale armor and tyrael's staff) it's been 10 years and the game's still fun. i mean, i dont play it regularly. even many months go by when i play no diablo. but it's a game that's 12 years old, and it's still just perfect. in 10 years i know i wont be playing modern warfare 2 or halo 3. maybe Extreme Future War 5.... by activision...
i love diablo. that's all.
im 18 years old and the butcher still scares the shit out of me. he's even scarier when he's bigger.
gewd loot tho.
