Saying that someone is stupid for not playing Medal of Honor for letting you play as Al-Qaeda is like saying it's stupid for someone to not want to play Burnout because they've been involved in a horrible car accident.

There, I made a comparison. Let's see if I can make a few more!

Saying that someone is stupid for not playing Medal of Honor for letting you play as Al-Qaeda is like saying it's stupid for someone to not want to play Bioshock because they have a fear of water.

Saying someone is stupid for not playing Medal of Honor for letting you play as Al-Qaeda is like saying it's stupid for someone to not want to play Dance Dance Revolution because they don't have any legs and can use their hands.

I could go on, but I just got home from work and I wanna play Team Fortress 2.

In conclusion, this is a stupid argument. If someone is uncomfortable with something, they shouldn't be forced into confronting it, if it needs to be confronted at all.

Also, it's like saying a colorblind person shouldn't play TF2.

Okay, done.

But...TF2 has a colorblind option. I think.
That last one was a bit of a joke, so yeah. >_>
... good point, but I disagree that it's a stupid argument. No argument is stupid if it actually makes people think about an issue.
It's stupid in the sense that people are calling him a sissy and stuff over it. >_>
I figured it was. Just wanted to be that guy.
With all due respect, Dtoid, you guys read too much into shit.

That was one man's opinion, and most of you responded to it based on his name alone. For fuck's sake, it's like Prince just released the sequel to Purple Rain up in this bitch.

My view? I want to play as Al Qaeda. Because manifest destiny murdered my Native American ancestors and karma's a bitch. Think about that before your angry little fingers strike out against nothing but your own keyboards.

Just my honest gut reaction on the subject. Take it for what it is. <3
If only people cared about actual soldiers the way they care about the simulated ones in a game that isn't even out yet.
@ Sir Legendhead
So you support a "freedom fighter" group that kills women if they show any amount of skin?? A group that beheads and stones anyone who questions their rule?? A group who uses their religion to scare and oppress everyone around them?? Our troops fear the Taliban but not as much as the Afghan people do. From the reaction I'm seeing from everyone, people would have no problem playing as the KKK or Nazis.

At least with Russians and Japanese, there is a bit of old-time rivalry. We know what the other went through since we shared similar pain. It was more about a difference in ideology than mass human rights violations. Doesn't make it better but it is easier to stomach.
@Bluth: ehhhhh, 6.8/10

Too much politics up in my gaming. Also, you want to play as Al-Qaeda? Fine. That's your jam. You don't want to because you think it's wrong, I can dig that too. Just don't call someone names or be an asshole because of it. That's when you start to sink my battleship.

Also, dug the post.
@Occams: I'll take 6.8 from you over 10 from anyone else any day.

Seriously, though, decent point.
@ CelicaCrazed - Honestly? No. I posted that because I feel the entire controversy is silly, and decided to parody it by making the most ridiculous and hyperbolic comment I could think of.

Although on second thought, there's more truth to what I said than I realized. As far as mass human rights violations go, we Americans are about as bad as they get. Think about Hiroshima, Nagasaki, the Trail of Tears...justifications for these things have been made, but still. It's not like our hands are clean.

Seriously, though, being able to play as Al Qaeda could be a good thing. It might give players a more enlightened perspective on the conflict. Then again, maybe not, who knows.
