For Christians who've always wanted to dabble in "Guitar Hero," but can't bear riffing to songs like "Cheat on the Church," "Cowboys From Hell" or "The Number of the Beast," finally, there's a video game for you.

Look out gamers! There's going to be an extremely crappy version of Guitar Hero coming out exclusively for MAC and PC! Aside from the ridiculous $99.95 price tag this game features Christian bands that most likely none of you listen to. Due in September 2008 Guitar Praise will feature 52 songs by artists like Toby Mac, Newsboys, and Skillet.

Personally I don't listen to Christian bands, but I have nothing wrong with them except they suck and just aren't my style of music. I am by no means God-bashing or hating on their message though, it's just not music I can get into. There's a news report about this on Fox News. I know in the past there was a Dance Praise game that ripped off DDR very similar to what this is doing to Guitar Hero. As I understand Dance Praise was the suck.

If you hit that news article you can view some pictures of the game. The notes are triangular instead of round like Guitar Hero or rectangular like Rock Band. Triangles hurt my eyes.

What I would like to see is some more Radiohead in Rock Band. That's the only thing that will give me a true music video game fix! Do you think any gaming sites will even review this soon-to-be catastrophe?

lol My friend admitted to listening to Newsboys way back in middle school, and played a tape for the class during a presentation. Needless to say, we ridiculed him mercilessly, even years later.

I always get a kick out of those Christian rock compilation CDs that they advertise on TV. Some shit will be playing like "Open the Eyes of my Heart" (how the hell does that work?!), with a kid closing his eyes dramatically and staring skyward. So fucking funny.

While I won't be playing this, I think it's quite ignorant to put off all music that has a Christian affiliation as bad. August Burns Red, Norma Jean, FlyLeaf(who are in rock band), and Demon Hunter are just a few of the bands that are good(imo) but also considered "Christian music".

@Holyetheline: My comment was more of a general statement, not really directed at you or your article. But I, along with anyone who has a broad range of taste, know that there are good bands/musicians in every single genre of music on earth, regardless of how watered down it may appear in mainstream media representation. Like in high school, I used to think I liked every type of music EXCEPT country, til I dug a little deeper and found that there are even some kick ass country tunes out there. It's a relative, but you get the point.

Most the music I listen to is Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, David Bazan, Wilco, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, Neva Dinova, Ladyhawk, M. Ward, Nine Inch Nails, and so on...

Wilco/Uncle Tupelo is amazing country.

if there was a 'christian' song pack for rock band or whatever...then id be interested.

All they need to sell it is songs that are harder than "Through Fire and Flames". It'd sell like hot cakes because the GH Elitists will be shitting their pants just at the thought of more challenging note charts, not even caring about what the songs are or sound like.
