There is no real point in arguing this anymore, the facts are incontrovertible and the variables are so viscous they have become permanent points of data. As much as it pains me to conclude, I can't deny reality. Nintendo and the Wii is the winner of this war.
Nintendo, despite abandoning the HD era of technology, managed to double the sales of its competitors while at the same time securing the fiduciary relationship of the hardcore. The gravities of the Wii have made it a household brand, one that is permanently imprinted on the collective Occidental consciousness. It is a cultural icon -- one that you, despite your vitriol, somehow bought headlong. You bash the Wii yet, I bet, most of you already own one, and have spend hard earned dough on its limited AAA exclusives. Nintendo is also responsible for introducing a new paradigm, one which has engendered its own arms race between Sony and Microsoft for the casual motion-sensor market.
Note: Not even a price drop of the PS3 will change the nominal rank order presented below
1. Wii (winning factors: affordable and innovative technology)
2. Xbox 360 (winning factors: accessible HD technology and impressive game library)
3 PS3 (losing factors: price point, suicidal marketing)
Only a petty attempt of wording can actually change this inevitably painful edict. The rephrasing: 'best of HD consoles" is just semantic at this point and pedantic.
