Too bad the only good Splinter Cell was Chaos Theory for the PC. Hopefully they can turn this series around with this iteration.
With Metal Gear available for both consoles and portable systems, one should wonder why Ubisoft even bothers with the Splinter Cell series.
1. Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and Splinter Cell Double Agent (current gen version) are all amazing games.
2. Metal Gear is PS3 only, no PSP, no Xbox 360, nothing, just PS3. Doesn't matter anyway, Metal Gear is not a good series to begin with.
Says the guy with the Splinter Cell avatar.
I'm not trying to start a flame war with you, but the most recent version of Splinter Cell stunk. Fact. The two prior two Chaos Theory were OK, but nothing more.
Metal Gear has been on Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, and PSP. Fail. Dispite your belief, Metal Gear is a fantastic series.
Oh dude, my bad about the Metal Gear thing. I thought you were talking solely about Metal Gear Solid 4. As for me not liking it. I just think the story is weird and confusing, characters are weird, camera angle is terrible, and the controls are frustrating at times.
I can understand the story being confusing completely. You have me by the balls there. Sometimes I grow tired of the convoluted plot. Touche.
I like Splinter Cell as well, but I feel they reached a high point with Chaos Theory. The next left a bitter taste in my mouth. Maybe I'm just being too judgemental.
Regardless, I respect your opinion, brother. No problems I hope.
VW, nah dude, it's cool. I really respect the Metal Gear series, for what it has done for gaming. We wouldn't have half of the games we do without the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid. As for Splinter Cell, I'd have to agree. The best one was definitely Chaos Theory for PC or XBOX. The other versions were rushed and felt terrible. Let's hope that Conviction will be a reinvention of the series, I have hope.
I wouldn't exactly consider gamestop as a credible source. Even if there is a DS version it doesn't take away the fact that the real Conviction is only one one next gen console.
And as far as Metal Gear, it is a good game, and probably more loved than splinter cell. Also it will be coming to the 360, Ron said so.
I'm pretty sure that convictions was exclusive to the Microsoft console, not Microsoft altogether. Considering the DS is a handheld it wouldn't fall under the same category.
I'll try to find the quote and get back.
"This is just a mistake by the retailer. The game is not coming out on PS3 nor is it coming out on April 1. We're sticking to the original announcement"
And Kotaku said, "Ubi has pledged an exclusive Splinter Cell for the Microsoft console."
And Joystiq said (Yeah I know, it's Joystiq but it was the only place I could find it at) "Both BioShock and Splinter Cell Conviction (the suspected title for the post-Double Agent iteration) will be console-exclusive to the Xbox 360; BioShock will still be coming to the PC, while Splinter Cell can still be released for the PC and various portable console (DS, PSP)."
So yeah, a DS version is not entirely out of the question.
