oh boy, first time blogging on here. this is an exciting day indeed! i had been searching the internet a little bit in hopes to find a place where i could just share my "oh so interesting" life with the world, so here i am! welcome me, boo me off the stage, etc, i'm fine with all of it. i personally came here just because i like to talk about things, and hopefully have people read them. i hope to find a home here and maybe make some new buddies in the process. (:
world of warcraft.
after weeks of being bugged by my friend, i FINALLY decided to purchase this game that's been out for like 25 years. after an hour of playing, i can already see that i could be spending potentially too much time on this game.
while installing this game for what seemed like years, my friend tried to teach me the ropes in the easiest way possible, playing his character. he plays a night elf rogue on some popular server. he's a self-proclaimed "player-versus-player" master and i would tell you to look him up, but i forgot his ridiculous name. the learning curve was... interesting to say the least, but i'm guessing it helped me out in the long run, as now i'm not running around killing the same kitty-cat for 79 levels. i enjoyed playing his rogue, so i decided that's what i wanted to go for. i'm a ninja anyway, so it just made sense. :D
once the game finally installed, hessiana of altar of storms was born. she's a blood elf rogue. very tiny and harmless looking, but can kick some ass, much like me. ;) instead of rolling out an all out review of the game from the hour i played, i'll just hit the highlights that i found interesting while playing for the little time i did.
i instantly fell in love with the way the game looks. it's a very colorful, cartoon-ish land, with just enough realism to make you not feel like you're playing a game for people well... my age. the music was pretty cool in the starting area i was in as well. sounded like i was in some royal palace of pointy-eared pink people, and i was completely okay with that. most of my playing involved killing things and doing people's chores for them, which i'm assuming gets better. one quest in particular though, i got to beat up a dwarf that was a spy for the alliance. he had it coming to him; he looked pretty annoying.
i also got into my first duel with someone. a level 8 mage, when i was only a level 5. we duked it out for about 4 or so rounds. i won 3-1. i was pretty proud of myself. (:
all in all, it was a fun experience. it's different being immersed in your own little world, as opposed to online games i'm used to playing, where you'd play a match, leave, and simply join another. i could honestly do what i wanted, without being held back by "rules". if anyone plays, especially on my server, feel free to keep me company on my journey to 80. i'd truly appreciate it. (:
"while installing this game for what seemed like years" Yep, it takes 4.3 years to install. I've figured out that I could back up my whole install on an external drive so all I have to do is dump it onto the drive and play. This probably wont work forever though.
it wasn't even so much the installation that made it take forever. it was the installation PLUS the 3 billion patches afterward. i don't have an external drive, so let's just pray that nothing happens to my computer for a while that would make me have to re-install it. :P

Wait what? Why?
others refer to me as the most obnoxious person you'll ever meet
Oh....
You're against capitalization, and I'm against YOU.
And yeah, YOU REALLY ARE OBNOXIOUS.
Why rogue? Please. Re-roll a hunter if you're new and going to solo the game. You'll have way more fun.
Welcome to Dtoid!
I've done a pretty good job of avoiding this game over the years since I can easily see myself falling victim to the WoW addiction. I've seen people firsthand just lose themselves entirely in the game which scares me a little. Plus I'm more of a shooter kind of guy anyways. But even my shooters are becoming more WoW-like with each new release >_>
Shadow Priest or Shaman: or GEEET OUT!
But seriously if you're completely new, don't play Rogue. Go Hunter first.
@daedhead8 :: makes sense now, doesn't it?
@naim master :: fair enough. thanks for restating what's already been established.
@juicy :: way more fun as a hunter? i'm having plenty of fun stabbing (well now slicing with swords) the hell out of things. don't take away my moment! D:
@celicacrazed :: thanks, for both welcoming me and a response to the actual blog. i've been big on shooters myself, but i thought i'd try a change of pace. i mean, the 15 million or some-odd people can't be wrong, right?
@magnalon :: we'll see. i'm enjoying my rogue for the most part. it was the most appealing class to me because i secretly enjoy being the rugged, no-rules bad guy. (: what's so great about a hunter?
what's so great about a hunter? GUNS. Also, you get a pet with a pretty large selection of what you can choose.
