Before I start I would just like to say fuck you for making me stop playing GTA 4 just to explain to all of you why you're making a bad mistake.
Ah the Killzone series. A series that has yet to be milked since well, it doesn't have the largest fanbase. And my dear DToid brethren do you want to know why Killzone doesn't have a large fanbase? Its because the game is dull and boring.
Do you remember Killzone 1? The game that was made for the Playstation 2 just so Sony could say, "DURF DURF WE KILL HALO WIF R GAMEZ!!11!" The game was worked on for years just to compete with Halo 1 (which is funny since Halo 2 was announced before Killzone was released). When Killzone was finally released it wasn't as big of a success as Sony was hoping for.
Though I thought the game looked gorgeous for a PS2 game I really disliked it because of its gameplay. That's right the thing that ultimately makes a video game fun. The thing that many of you don't notice when watching Killzone 2 videos. Sure it looks purtty but have you looked at the game. I mean the game not the graphics. Every single post I see about Killzone 2 always has two words in it, pretty and graphics. Not fun or immersive but awesome to stare at.

Adding a Ron Workman video doesn't make you look cool. "Look, I can find video's, people must think I'm cool" Third, Guerrilla Games never said anything about Killzone being a Halo Killer. Never did, never will. It's the media and fucked up fanboys who did that. And finally, with a sentence like "you can like your Killzone...etc." you just killed your own point and blog. @Takeshi - yes they did say it was a Halo killer. Or at least, Sony did. I was looking foward to it, and it let me down.
Killzone 1 was allright but nothing special. They have lot of room for improvement for 2. I'll reserve judgement until it actually gets released (if ever) but im not getting hyped up for it.
this is just another fps... maybe it will be improved over the original maybe not. all I care about is the Shin Megami Tensei game in development for ps3.
Why are you telling people to play Killzone 1 before deciding on Killzone 2?
Gauging the original is no measuring tool for a sequel, in any way, shape or form. As for telling people that a game that hasn't come out yet is boring, and dull and that they shouldn't be excited, seriously just shut the fuck up and keep your opinions to yourself if you are going to be like that.
You may not have liked Killzone, but others obviously did, or it would have not been given a sequel. No it wasn't the greatest game ever released, nor was it the most original, but it had some cool guns, some unqiue scenarios and a nicely sized campaign mode.
look I enjoyed Killzone 1's multiplayer. Nothing else though...so I figure they do have the ability to improve this. Its not unheard of especially since the company is now owned by Sony. So I don't think Sony is sitting around letting bad gameplay happen. If they do make a bad game, you need to question Sony's management ability.
Even though Killzone 1 wasn't all that it was cracked up to be and the art is really derivative, it still had some cool qualities that I think could be expanded upon in the sequel. The atmosphere for instance was really war- like and I liked the look of the guns and the enemies. But yes I agree with you that judging from the first game, this sequel is getting way too much hype. Hell yes to SMT on ps3!!
I don't know that I have a place in this argument... Killzone was pretty standard, but then again, so are Halo 2 & 3... sequels to an innovative game are innovative unless they innovate, and that means more than "Hey we've got swords now!" or "Hey, we've got hammers now!".
Call of Duty 4 on the other hand...
Also, @Skribble, if people are losing interest in a game because Heretic is dehyping it, that sucks for them, but they probably deserve it because they haven't looked at it for themselves yet. By now if you're excited for it, you've probably already made that decision, and if you hadn't heard about it yet, you might go check it out after reading this post, but if you're just gonna cross it off your list because "some guy said it was stupid"... not only do you not deserve a game you were excited for, you deserve to be executed. Also, opinions are what make this site interesting, so let's keep those around. Deal?

I'm not going to speak for everyone else here, but I have to say that to my mind, Killzone was a highly derivative shooter that brought nothing but mere competence to the table. I didn't think it was terrible, but nothing about it justifies the level of hype surrounding its sequel as far as I'm concerned.
Slap me into the category of people that really enjoyed Killzone 1. It's single player had really laughable moments, but the atmosphere and the way it played really drew me in for multiplayer. Which was pretty awesome.
But actually, I thought the graphics sucked then and now. Good atmosphere, shitty clipping.
My main gripe with Killzone 2 is that people don't seem to realize that it's going to play exactly like Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. With better graphics.
Which is actually pretty ballin' so fuck that "gripe" part.
