Not a big fan of country music, but that really was a touching song, and I'm sure Alan Jackson meant it as such. He's already rich.

As for the ad... *shudders* Who put that poor joke together? Surely not Sony.

How better to mark the anniversary of the murder of 3,000 people than to post this, while bitching about America at the same time. Nice job asshole.

Well, Sony is a Japanese based company and many of their marketers are Japs, that could care less of how people feel or react to their ads. In a way, they may not have seen how serious the matter was or is, because of their foreign descent. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a horrible ad, especially after losing a family member in this disaster. Maybe theyre still pissed about Hiroshima or Nagasaki...

Everybody who thinks that was a real Sony ad, raise your hand. Just need to do a little... evolutionary maintenance.

But seriously, I totally love edgy, irreverent, independent thinking by someone who just doesn't give a fuck and isn't constrained by "wisdom" or "judgment", because it's so hard to come by these days unless you're a junior high teacher.

poor taste. not funny. any one who profited off of that tragedy and didn't donate 100% of their profits to the families of the victims, or reconstruction, or the city of new york deserves to be in the same ring of hell as child molesters.

No offense, but I hate to hear people getting in a tizzy about 9/11 bullshit. Living in North Jersey, almost everyone's parents in my area worked in NYC. There was mass panic at my school of kids trying to get in contact with their parents, and a few families lost some people.

I don't like the "Remember September 11th" bullshit. People in my town died and we're trying to move on. Dragging us back to that day every year is not helping; it's just a piece of crap propaganda for this pointless war.

You guys can act all righteous and say that the song was "touching" but how much do you want to bet that that man knew no one who died, at all? What right does he have to sing about this tragedy? I agree that it's simply making money off the pain of others.

@FrozenBabylon: It's a joke about real people who had to make a choice between burning to death or falling 1000 feet to their death, presented seven years to the day after the event. Explain to me what part of that is satirical or funny.

Dammit, Slife, you totally stole my awesome pop culture reference!

But seriously, I think the worst part about this is that they depict people actually jumping off the building and falling to their deaths. There's a very fine line between "funny" and "tasteless, and in my opinion, this ad falls firmly in the latter.

If they made a reference to 9/11 or something, I wouldn't have as big of a problem with it. But when you take an iconic symbol representing the needless deaths of thousands of people and subvert it to talk about a hardware warranty? Seriously? Shame on you, Sony.

I know, free speech and all, they can show it if they want to, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

To the rest of you, I don't mean to make light of the tragedy 7 years ago, but seriously? 3000 people is a drop in the bucket compared to what happens elsewhere in the world every day.
No tributes, no memorials. Fuck, people don't even know that it's happening.

It's not the fact that you're being honest about something. Everyone is different, there are people who can get over things immediately and not let it phase them and there are others who aren't as emotionally strong. Humanity is built on dynamics and individuality, you can't expect everyone to act like those bad ass protagonists you see in movies and video games. I've seen some of the strongest people in my life cry because they realize the scope of what happened; it's not just "oh a 1000 people died" it really had changed the world and our country especially, for better or worse is another argument. Have some tact for once in your life.

We all know terrible things happen everyday, it's the consequence of being human. I'm not offended at all but what you're saying, I just think it's childish how you're saying "FUCK YOU AND EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU YOU'RE WEAK", it's pathetic.

i was in Millburn when it happened so i know what youre talking about. & yea i agree.

I think a lot (not all) country fans like to think that they're "more american" then everybody else. like if it's not from the classic 1950's movie perfect version of the U.S.A. it's not american. & a lot of country singers see that & cash in on it. Like a terrorist is going to go to the middle of nebraska & set off a nuke. Yet people there seem more concerned about it than the people who work in major metro areas. Maybe the isolation is just a catalyst for xenophobia.
