Dear Rockstar North,

First off I would like to say congratulations on making an outstanding game. That being said I feel that there are many flaws that plague this game. Before the games release I felt that this title would truly achieve things gamers have never seen. After playing Grand Theft Auto 4 for about twenty hours now I have seen you have achieved nothing ground breaking but something amazing. That is not to say you haven' t reach a height that many other developers can only dream about. Overall I' am very satisfied with the $97 I spent on the Special Edition of GTA IV.

Though I mentioned your game has many flaws I feel these hardly serve as a reason why your game would be considered average in some peoples eyes. However, these flaws greatly took me out of the game and made me very frustrated in one mission. That mission is Three Leaf Clover which I feel is a mission you spent a lot of time on.



The reason I say this is because after four attempts of dying due to my inability to find cover or shoot the right officer I began to realize that perhaps it wasn't me that was the problem. On the fifth attempt at the mission I began noticing many things that were getting me killed. For one the cover system which many praise was a burden. When Niko would slide behind a garbage can in order to avoid bullets I felt fantastic. After defeating all the officers I proceeded to follow Packie and Derrick, or at least I tried to. You see while trying to get out of cover I would constantly either move left or right, or I would hide behind something else. However this is a small problem and it was probably due to the fact that I wasn't pushing the correct button to get out of cover.

Fast forward through more awesome gun battles with police men. I' am at the train tracks where Packie, Derrick, and I decide to run down the tracks in order to escape the N.O.O.S.E. officers. I frantically push the A button and look to my left hoping to see Derrick and Packie running right beside me. I only see Derrick. "What's going on?", I ask myself. Its at this moment I hear Packie yelling at the officers and firing. "Wow", I think, "this is amazing." Packie had decided to stay behind while me and Derrick kept going. What spectacular scripting. At least this is what I thought until I climb the many flights of stairs and was given a message that I needed to retrieve Packie.

As I rush to reach Packie I see him shooting. Not at an officer, but emptiness. I realize I have encountered a flaw not an amazing moment in this mission. I begin running when I noticed Packie is walking. There are many officers after us and I have to wait for Packie due to the fact he must have gotten a leg cramp. After the long walk we have finally reached the streets again. Cops are everywhere but luckily my wanted level is back to three stars. I quickly run to a cop car in an attempt to make a get away when I look up and see Derrick and Packie standing motionless. Police officers continue to bash in their skulls with the butt of their guns and the two men continue to stand there. It is at this moment a fat law enforcer decides to come to my windshield and shoot me in the head. The screen goes gray and black and I for the fifth time have failed your mission.

I' am not saying the difficulty is too hard. What I' am saying is that this mission which I felt was going to be my favorite quickly turned into a tedious chore due to many bugs. I will gladly reattempt this mission because I want to move the story along however I believe that this is not what you wanted the gamers motivation to be while they were playing the missions. I like and dislike what you have done to the franchise. You have greatly improved on its story while taking out many things that were amazing about the past GTAs (for example building empires). I feel that you have made the series far more mature while still keeping its humor and for that you have my respect.
