Am 28 years old, live in Northampton, England, work as a internet administrator. Like horror films, rock music, zombie books etc etc.

My gamertag is Happyhead UK, I really really want to play online games with friendly people,as I hate playing with strangers, I really feel like I'm missing out on online games due to this fact so am envious of all the people with thier fancy 'friend lists'!

Anyway my first console was a BBC Acorn Electron, I loved it, had hundreds of games for it. My fave games were the Repton ones, as well as Crazy Rider, and a game set in a underground base that I can't recall the title of. All good things come to an end though. One day the cassette box thing broke, rather then get a new one my parents chucked the whole thing away, and sold all the games to some dodgy bloke at a car boot sale for £5.

That was the end of my console owning days I assumed. My friends all had Master Systems, so we would spend hours playing Alex Kidd and Sonic, I thought the graphics and sound were unbelivable.

One birthday I find a big present, I open it to find surrounded by a legion of angels a Megadrive, a pure virgin Megadrive, with Altered Beast and Sonic. Before that day I had not even realised such a beast of power existed.

I become the cool kid in the neighbourhood with everyone wanting to play it. A year later a bitter war erupted, a enemy appeared on the horizon - the Super NES...

It was a bitter and bloody battle over the next few years. Some of my friends got Megadrives, while other friends were torn asunder and got Super NES's, a civil war of apocalyptic proportions. Fighting in the streets, gangs armed with Game Gears and Gameboys beating each other into bloody chunks, a literal Hell on Earth.

Looking back I think this is were my dislike of Nintendo appeared. Don't get me wrong, nowadays I love Nintendo games, I own a GBA, DS, Gamecube and Wii, but at the root of my being I will always love Sega more. To this day I dislike Mario. I think the games are amazing, but he himself I detest. I refuse to believe there is such a thing as a bad Sonic game, I just turn a blind eye to the bad ones...anyway I digress.

After that I brought a NES, sold it, though liked it, brought a Super NES (my fave game of all time is the Super NES version of Batman Returns), sold it to get a Playstation, sold that when I got a Playstation 2, brought an almighty Dreamcast (RIP), and got a N64 for Goldeneye. Swallowed my pride and brought a Xbox. The rest is history.

Now I own a Dreamcast, Wii, Xbox, 360, Playstation 2, Master System, Megadrive (my pride, over 200 games), GBA, DS, NES, Super NES, and a Gamecube (which I have misplaced somewhere).

So many games, so many uncompleted, too little time, too many RPG's!

When I next get paid I intend to re-buy a Super NES and a NES.

My favourite game of all time is Batman Returns on the Super NES. A friend recently gave me a copy he picked up on the market, so for the moment it has pride of place on a shelve so I can worship it. Anyway this led me to compile a list of all the Super NES games and NES games I would try and hunt down if I owned the consoles. There was a hell of a lot of games I wanted. Also added to this were a list of all the Master System games and Megadrive games I want which I have yet to get. My list had grown ridiculously fat by this point.

My problem with this is that I not only have a huge heap of games in various states of currently being played, but also a sizeable pile of games I have brought but have not even played yet. Too many cheap games and not enough free time.

I purchased a small note book (well, appropriated it from my parents house) and started compiling a list of every single game I own which I have yet to complete. The results are terrifying at the moment. There are so many games, specifically RPG’s were I have fought to the very end of the game and then just quit. Off the top of my head these include Alundra 2, Grandia, Star Ocean 2, 3, Final Fantasy 8, Landstalker, Summoner, Kingdom Hearts… All of these I will have to start again from the beginning if I ever want to complete, as I know from experience that it is hell to get back into a RPG after a lengthy break.

I think when I have finished my massive list I shall create a blog post of shame listing every single game I own but have not completed to try and spur me into action.

I started last night, completing Sonic 1 on the Master System on my second attempt, and completing Tom and Jerry on the Master System also on my second attempt. So two down, just a couple of hundred to go!

I hated Star Ocean 3 so much. My wife and I played through it together and we still joke about how awful it was. If I have telekinetic powers (and I'm pretty sure that I do) the creators of Star Ocean 3 are bleeding from their eyes.

Seriously, why put a cool action-based combat mechanic into your game and then punish people for using it? I even wrote an entire blog (http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/boatorious/laughably-bad-game-design-star-ocean-50780.phtml) on how much I hated that game.

As for finishing games, I'm in the same boat. Heh, I said boat!

Final Fantasy X - I purchased that game on day one, trudged all the way through to the very end right up to the last boss and quit. Just completely abandoned the game completely.

I've tried numerous times to pick the game back up and try to complete the last boss but I just get bored or even turn off the game before the main screen loads up.

That game was just an outright chore to play after the first half and I just cant bring myself to complete it.

Ever.

@boatorious - I'm undecided on Star Ocean 3, it's been a long time, I remember the first 10 hours were unbearably boring, but as for the rest I think I didn't mind it, I shall have a look at your post later : )

@Aurvantoid - I am one of those people who adored X, but I have done the similer thing to you in many other games, it is a near impossible task to get back into a abandened RPG!

@maxio098ui - My list of Super Nes and Nes games wanted are mostly compiled from the rose tinted memory of my childhood, so there is a lot of film licences mentioned;

For Super Nes = Turtles through Time, Barts Nightmare, Alien 3, Jurrasic Park, Addams Family Values, Aladdin, Mario Paint, Equinox, Tiny Toons, Joe and Mac Caveman Ninjas, Battletoads, Mickys Magical Quest, Mario Kart, Mario All Stars, Home Alone, Super Probotector and Super Putty

For Nes = Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Maniac Mansion, Turtles Arcade, Bugs Bunny, Super Mario Brothers, Duckhunt, Scrooge McDuck, Wizards and Warriors 1 and 2, Blaster Master, and Gremlins.

Quite a few games for me to start off with finding. When I have finished writing my list of uncompleted games I will create that in a seperate entry : )

Yes, too many RPGs to play. I really would like to finish Final Fantasy VIII. I've started that game about a dozen times since it came out during my freshman year of college - 1999. I would sit down to play it and someone would say, "Hey, want to go to party?" or something. I think I got to disc 3 once or getting lost in sewers and being angry like the Hulk.

Yeah, I have a ton of games stacked up here to play and I'm hardly playing anything but an hour or so of TF2 a day.

Oh, I know I'll never get caught up, but I still try to do my best and support the games by buying them now to play later.

You should try to get back in the RPGs right were you left it, just look into a strategy guide or faq to remember wtf you were doing and why.
