I know the feeling. I just sent my 360 out to Microsoft. The lady at the post office didnt even look at the box. When she picked it up, she yelled to her colleague in the back "ANOTHER THREE-SIXTY", as if they had a running bet going on. I asked her how she knew from just the weight. Her response? "We get a lot of them." Its a little unsettling to say the least, that they released a product as unreliable as this, and we still go out and buy it.
Am I just stubborn for not buying a 360 cause I know there is a ridiculous chance of it breaking? I really don't understand why 360 fans put up with this.
most fans have theirs working.
30% rate failure.
the other 70% have working ones.
30% failure rate is a little crazy for a product. I'm no industry specialist but I have a hard time believing that similar products have that high of a failure rate.
Buy a PS3 and hang out with the cool PS3 kids ...
I somehow still find incredible that microsoft is giving so much sh** to customers with this issue, after a couple of years and two new versions of the magic gaming box they should have fixed the problem for good. They had time, thats why Im not getting one of those.
Today my 360 started showing black lines and changing the colours of certain things while playing Resi 5, I looked it up and it turns out my 360 is heading towards a red ring soon too. Stupid Microsoft!
The only good Xbox 360 is a dead Xbox 360.
I installed a fan onto the side of mine that cools the secondary gpu heatsink, but somehow I know that's just not going to be enough.
@ Justice
This is what happened to mine, I also got a checkerboard pattern and purple lines and freezing soon after. I got an E74 error. Good Luck.
I don't feel sorry for people that continue to support MS after having multiple RRoD's.
I got an E74 just before Christmas.... then the whole RROD about 4 weeks ago. Still waiting for my damn console to come back. I was this close to getting 1000/1000 on Crackdown, dammit!
Use this time to get back to your roots and check out a few games from years past. I spent most of my time on the Dreamcast while waiting for my repaired 360.
My 360 randomly made odd electronic beeps randomly in the days leading up to it's demise, I thought something may have been up with it.
@Char Aznable - sound advice, and thats what i'm doing! Been on the Megadrive playing the classic Sonic games a lot over the last day or so.
this is probably the main reason I'll never get a 360, I HATE HATE HATE when hardware fails on me. Even if they replace it for nothing, pick it up at my place and return it within five minutes. I've had some ugly experiences in the past and with what we pay for these things the least we can ask for is that they actually play games.
in the end they sent me a brand spanking new 360, 2009 model, so that was cool : D
