Am 28 years old, live in Northampton, England, work as a internet administrator. Like horror films, rock music, zombie books etc etc.

My gamertag is Happyhead UK, I really really want to play online games with friendly people,as I hate playing with strangers, I really feel like I'm missing out on online games due to this fact so am envious of all the people with thier fancy 'friend lists'!

Anyway my first console was a BBC Acorn Electron, I loved it, had hundreds of games for it. My fave games were the Repton ones, as well as Crazy Rider, and a game set in a underground base that I can't recall the title of. All good things come to an end though. One day the cassette box thing broke, rather then get a new one my parents chucked the whole thing away, and sold all the games to some dodgy bloke at a car boot sale for £5.

That was the end of my console owning days I assumed. My friends all had Master Systems, so we would spend hours playing Alex Kidd and Sonic, I thought the graphics and sound were unbelivable.

One birthday I find a big present, I open it to find surrounded by a legion of angels a Megadrive, a pure virgin Megadrive, with Altered Beast and Sonic. Before that day I had not even realised such a beast of power existed.

I become the cool kid in the neighbourhood with everyone wanting to play it. A year later a bitter war erupted, a enemy appeared on the horizon - the Super NES...

It was a bitter and bloody battle over the next few years. Some of my friends got Megadrives, while other friends were torn asunder and got Super NES's, a civil war of apocalyptic proportions. Fighting in the streets, gangs armed with Game Gears and Gameboys beating each other into bloody chunks, a literal Hell on Earth.

Looking back I think this is were my dislike of Nintendo appeared. Don't get me wrong, nowadays I love Nintendo games, I own a GBA, DS, Gamecube and Wii, but at the root of my being I will always love Sega more. To this day I dislike Mario. I think the games are amazing, but he himself I detest. I refuse to believe there is such a thing as a bad Sonic game, I just turn a blind eye to the bad ones...anyway I digress.

After that I brought a NES, sold it, though liked it, brought a Super NES (my fave game of all time is the Super NES version of Batman Returns), sold it to get a Playstation, sold that when I got a Playstation 2, brought an almighty Dreamcast (RIP), and got a N64 for Goldeneye. Swallowed my pride and brought a Xbox. The rest is history.

Now I own a Dreamcast, Wii, Xbox, 360, Playstation 2, Master System, Megadrive (my pride, over 200 games), GBA, DS, NES, Super NES, and a Gamecube (which I have misplaced somewhere).

Lost Odyssey: My oh so important thoughts on the 1st 13 hours...

My thoughts on Lost Odyssey, 13 hours in…

I have wanted this game for months, and recently decided to buy it despite the horde of RPG’s I have waiting to complete, and even play (Shining Force, Twilight Princess, Star Ocean 2, Revenant Wings, Summoner 2 to name but a few).

The opening was fantastic, and really epic, I much prefer exciting openings compared to s-l-o-w openings (such as the ultra boring first 10 hours of Suikoden 5).

The characters for me have been the best thing about the game, the main ones sure are quite JRPG stereotypes, but are done really well. Jansen is the funniest character ever, every single line of his makes me laugh out loud, I haven’t laughed at a character so much since Jeff from the League of Gentlemen: Apocalypse film (‘yeah yeah, all right, I’m not an octopuss’ lol).

On the flip side, I haven’t cried so much during a game either. When it comes to games I am a wimp for crying. I even managed to cry at Dragon Quest 8, and Dark Chronicles, but the text based stories are too much for me. Nearly everyone has had tears running down my face by the end, they are so sad! And so beautifully done, lol.

The music is amazing! I wasn’t too impressed with the music in Blue Dragon, but the music here, especially the epic boss music is sooo good and empowering : )

And that is it for my impressions at the moment, sure quite biased, but I am in love with this game at the moment.

So am I! I love the game, I just need to finish it now. I'm at the beginning of the 3rd disc. Reading this makes me want to get back into it.

You actually laughed at the League of Gentlemen movie?

I thought it was abysmal compared to the tv show.

it truly is a refreshing new RPG with old elements.

Blue Dragon's boss music FTW though. Bringing back the vocals from Deep Purple, that's just epic.

Sounds like you and LO should go get married and have buttsecks. Jeez. It's disgusting how much you just fawned over that game.

Damn it, I feel the same way...

@Garbz- I thought the film was bad compared to the series when I first saw it, but the Jeff character totally saves the film, he is hilarious throughout, and changed him into my fave League of Gentleman character

@BlackSheep- Hmm undecided on the Blue Dragon boss music, lol, its...o-k but doesn't really fit the musical style of the rest of the game, lol, least you can't say it's not memorable, heh.

@BigPopaGamer- It's just the courting stage, new love, I'm sure once I have got to know it some more, it's faults may become apparant to me, my ex - Blue Dragon was cute, but was a bit too easy for my taste

Just beat Disc 3 and it's my favorite so far. Hope they can deliver a great finale

Disc 4 is good too. Just don't try to get everything or you'll ruin it for yourself. Just play through and try to finish it as fast as possible to get the best experience. After you've beaten it, go back and get everything if you feel like it. But don't do it before hand, or you'll have 50 hours gone and forget what's happened in the story. It brings you out of the experience too much if you try to get 100% of everything (and makes the game ridiculously easy. you'll be about 20 levels too high for the final boss to not feel like a random encounter)

@Messer

How long did it take you to get off the third disk? Dclark feel free to answer as well.

I completed this game, and I have to say it just gets better and better, so if you've loved the first 13 hours, you'll love the rest of it even more!

The music is epic win on this game.

And I agree, Jansen is my fave. and seems to be for many people.

I actually admit, this game brought a tear to my eye in places - something a game hasn't done to me before.

If anyone hasn't bought it, GO BUY IT NOW.

Heh, I loved the beginning of Suikoden V. After sludging through IV, this game restored some faith in the Suikoden series.

As for Lost Odyssey, I feel quite mixed, but I won't discuss any extended thoughts here to ruin your experience. It's MUCH better than Blue Dragon, that's for sure.

@Chocobo Knight - First of all great picture! I love Death Note!!

I agree Suikoden IV was complete pap, but it got the beginnning right, within 5 minutes of starting that game you had done a random encounter, a one on one encounter, and a mass battle, thrown right into the action, whereas with Suikoden V I resented getting lost in some damn collesium for a billion hours at the start of the game when I knew as soon as I had slogged through the opening the game would be good.

(On a side note, Suikoden IV was awwwwffuul. I got to the end of game boss easily after 12 hours, 8 hours of levelling up later I still was not strong enough to defeat it, merely stay locked in perpetual battle with it until my magic and items gave up. Eventually I just gave up on it.)

The Thousand Years of Dreams stories are my favorite part of the game! The music and imagery tie it all together so well!

I am about to complete the second disc but lack of time kept me from it too long so I just haven't picked it up yet. That and I'm not looking forward to having my party split up. I hate that stuff.

I don't remember when the 3rd disc starts, but it took me about 5-7 hours to get to the end from the entrance to Goatse, or however you call that town.

I've been putting off disk 4 as well, waiting for the right moment, fear it's going to be after the GTA4 craze.
