Things that are wrong: Fashion [NVGR]

[Things that are wrong is a series about stuff I hate that I will write sometimes, maybe.]

It boggles my mind that a concept such as fashion can exist, not to mention it being as massively accepted as it is. Sure, I understand it -who doesn't?-, but that doesn't make it any less terrifying. It seems to me like one of those things that are so fundamentally wrong that are even hard to explain.

Look at these damn glasses. I HATE THEM THEY'RE SO UNNECESSARILY BIG.

How can anyone accept something (a way to look, nonetheless) because someone with "authority" says so, without personal input? To me, one of the most important things in life is to explore and develop your personality. To think and reflect of yourself, of ideas that you are interested about. To then put to practice the definitions you make of yourself via art, media, socializing, expression. To accept an imposition as trivial as looks? Are you kidding me? How is this happening?

We all know that sheep mentality is a huge aspect of society. The fact that people will follow trends is not surprising. What baffles me so much is that fashion was created. That someone thought of making an industry out of it. That they thought -and possibly knew- it would work. This combined with the fact that it did work, and that it works so apparently seamlessly. Nobody really thinks of it. It's become something so normal and underlying that isn't questioned. It's even funny.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WHY DO PEOPLE WEAR THESE.

Now, of course I acknowledge that not everyone thinks like this. That there are people who legitimately like designing stuff and are good at it, as well as people who are legitimately interested and take it as an art. That's perfectly fine. That implies personal input; these people are thinking it. Different strokes for different folks. It's just I'm not talking about these people, or that aspect of fashion. I'm talking about this concept of extreme mindless following that some people take part of. Am I alone in this? Is this kind of superficial fashion not obviously wrong?

So it all comes down to me finding crap fashion to be a ridiculously and blatantly shit concept and being exasperated by the fact that it's so integrated into society's mentality. "But Kiranio, who cares? You don't have to worry about it", you may say. I don't care. I don't think about it all the time. It's just something that drives me insane when I'm reminded of it.

That is all for this first edition of Things that are wrong. I may do this again sometime. It's been real.
