Age: 23
Location: Ottawa, ON, Canada.

Profile: I'm a longtime gamer, and started playing video games during the transition from the NES to the SNES. Although I like retro games, I play mostly newer games on the 360. Still, my favourite gaming memories are from all-nighters filled with Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Smash Bros. in the late 90s.

I'm looking for a career in public service, politics or other fields where research and writing are critical. Though, the closer it's related to games, the better.

I make videos, animated gifs, podcasts and all kinds of random stuff in my spare time. I'm also trying to develop my own gaming website (details coming eventually).

Systems: NES, Super NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo 64, Wii, Sega Genesis, Playstation 2, Xbox 360, PC, Colecovision (my dad's). Also, many other systems (including arcade) that I not emulate.

Some Favourite Games:
Retro (NES-SNES eta): Megaman 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Sonic 3, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Robotrek, Illusion of Gaia, Megaman X, Lufia 1 and 2, Strider, Metal Slug, Twilight Zone pinball.

Retro Limbo (N64 era): Ogre Battle 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Mystical Ninja starring Goemon, Goemon's Great Adventure, Descent: Freespace.

Modern: Halo: Reach, Modern Warfare 2, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Tales of Vesperia, Fallout 3, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 1-3, Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam, Hearts of Iron II, Europa Universalis III, Civilization IV.

Reversed Music Mind Teasers Vol. 5: MULTIPASS EDITION!
Guncannon | 10:39 AM on 04.02.2010 7 comments

In this Friday feature, I take several pieces of music from different video games and mess them up somehow (like playing in reverse). Your job is to figure out what songs they are and what games they're from.

1. odber: 5
2. EnoSachran: 4
3. Batthink, Bulkmailer: 2
4. Anonymouse, Changston, Wryguy, vApathyv, etirflita: 1

Here's the answers to last week's puzzle, and who got each right. Surprisingly, for the first time all of the songs were figured out!:

#1) Easy: Final Fantasy VI, Kefka's Theme (odber)
#2) Medium: Sonic 3, Hydrocity Zone, Act 1 (vApathyv)
#3) Hard: Robotrek, Rococo Town (Batthink)
#4) Hard: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Termina Field (etirflita)
#5) WTF: On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Opening (Batthink)

I've decided to change things up this week. Instead of posting reversed music, I mixed together sets of three songs, playing simultaneously, hence the "Multipass" title. At first they sound pretty cacophonous, but if you try and focus on one on the songs at a time, it shouldn't be too hard. It's kind of like those Magic Eye pictures...though I'll admit I've never been able to see that damn sailboat...

The sets run about a minute each. Here are the clue-filled titles I gave them:

#1) Sky, Land and Minerals
#2) Battle on Space Highway
#3) Gundam Trinity

(Oh, and I'll be giving a point for each song identified, with a bonus point if someone can identify all three songs from a set before anyone else guesses them).

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

Yeah, I hear Green Hill Zone from Sonic 2 and the Legend of Zelda main theme in the first one, but odber already called that so oh well.

I hear the opening Central Highway level from Mega Man X in the second one too.

This week is great. Always a good idea to mix it up a little. May I suggest that some week you post different sound effects.

The only thing about these is that the first person who gets the guess right is the only one who gets the points. Too bad there's no way to submit answers anonymously so that nobody knows what the other people answered until next blog.

#3) Gundam Trinity

They're the theme tunes to Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and G Gundam. I recognised them all after ten seconds! :OD

@ AlphaDeus;

That is the Main Theme to Space Harrier. I knew I heard that from a game I played, but I couldn't place it...
