About Me
Well, I guess I can tell you about myself.

#1 - I am currently a student, so much drinking for me (j/k). I like to play games(duh)
and watch T.V. (who doesn't?), but I am not a slovenly potato. I also read (???)
and play chess (hmm, okay that's believable).

#2 - The systems that I have are:
PlayStation Portable (bricked FTW)
Nintendo DS Phat (top screen not working)
Nintendo DS Lite (shiny new!)
Game Boy Advance SP (there's a pattern here)
Game Boy (hey what?)
Super Nintendo (finally, some consoles!)
...and that's it. (WTF?)
Yeah, I don't have much new anything in terms of consoles. Very sad, but I do get
around playing other people's consoles. Not recently, though.

My friend, on the other hand, has the ones mentioned above, as well as Nintendo, GBC, Genesis,
GameCube, PS1 and 2, XB360, Wii, and a Game Gear. I've lost hope in capitalism at
this point, so I don't care as long as I can play Super Mario Galaxy.

#3 - I enjoy lurking and reading funny posts, and a lot of the comments on this site are
very WIN, so I visit every day.

That's all for now.

Mountain of Faith troubles
GuitarFearow | 6:44 AM on 12.27.2007 7 comments

So I have started playing Mountain of Faith this morning, and boy, are my arms tired! Is that how it goes?...no?...okay.

In case you didn't know, Mountain of Faith is the latest in a line of danmaku/curtain fire/bullet hell games done by this one guy named ZUN, under the name Team Shanghai Alice. In case you like to have your eyes bleed at complex pretty patterns, try a demo or two.

Anyway, I started playing today, as you can see.

And I was expecting the first few levels to be a relative breeze, as I had played through one of the previous game in the series, Imperishable Night. So, I was rolling along, la di da, when I was suddenly hit like this:

and I died right after. I mean, I wasn't stuck at that part or anything

but I was surprised, you know? So anyway, I guess I will update this with my further progress, even though the game ramps up in difficulty pretty fast (that may just be my perception, because certain other people live off this type of game).

Great game!

Imperishable Nights is probably one of the easier game of the series. Mostly due to the timing where you can replace a lost life with using a bomb is pretty forgiving.

Try Perfect Cherry Blossom. It's the prequel to IN. It's also fully translated to english. My favorite in the series.

This kind of game only half as enjoyable until you discover how the systems work.

I'm a big fan of Bullet Hell games even though I'm rubbish at them. Third-party observers sensitive to hearing me growl like a drunken sailor beware when I pop Gradius or Warning Forever on screen.

I've tried many, many shooters, from Samidare (still can't find a full version *sob*) to Progear (fairly high quality shooter in the arcade) but I must say that I find the Touhou series one of the more interesting ones.
