I want 3D games. Real 3D, not Mario 64, not COD4, not that kind of 3D, the kind where I
feel like I can reach out and touch it. Why don't I have this yet?
Did everyone decide after the Virtual Boy, that 3D gaming would be a horrible idea? I could
understand if they did, because just playing the demo systems at target as a youngster
made my face melt like I was in the closing scenes of Raiders of the lost arch.
But really, now we have systems that can make a truly nice 3D world. Lets just use call of
duty 4 for my example.
In local multiplayer, the screen is split down the middle, two different images. Granted, two
different players, doing different things.. But why couldn't that same system be used to
make two slightly different views of the same thing. Then whatever console you want(Or PC)
Would send those images to a headset where you can see the game in full 3D.
This doesn't sound too complicated does it?
So why doesn't anyone ever even talk about it?
Some movies are being done in 3D now, Nightmare before Christmas, Beowulf, etc.
Granted that isn't as fancy as having say a 3D projector sitting on your head, the image just
flickers and the glasses do some kinda magic on it to make it seem 3D. I wouldn't mind 2
LCD screens inside a pair of glasses, and now things are small enough it could be done
without breaking your neck.
You don't have to focus your whole console around it, have a port you could plug into the
front of it, and whatever developers wanted to make fully 3D games could.
It would make FPS a lot more involved.
I've been expecting this since the days of Mario64, waiting for my chance to really feel like I
was in a world with mushrooms and flying turtles and cock teasing whores.
I may be the only one who really has been dreaming of this, but I'm still waiting, and
probably will be for a long time. Maybe nintendo's next hand held system, since they seem
to be the only ones to try something new... Oh. Wait.. Never mind... They are probably too
scared of it being a Virtual Boy part 2... Oh well.. Guess I'll never see true 3D gaming..

Emphasis on the enjoy part.
I don't want that. I don't think anyone cares for that. Buy a Wii.
I would just like to be able to see games in fully realized 3D, I don't want it as a gimmick either, I would like it for bringing me further into the game world.
I don't want it half assed, no virtual boy 2.
These are things I'm not going to go quite into. But one major factor you have to realize: The last thing game companies want is to make their game 3D and the media FLIP, THE FUCK, OUT. Over how they think games REALLY ARE becomeing murder simulations.
A very fine point. I can see far too many people becoming far too into the games if they could actually become part of the world.... OH all the Koreans we would lose with a truely 3D WoW or Starcraft.
Enough people can't tell actors apart from the parts they play, I suppose giving them the chance to enter a world they would get lost in would be a bad idea.
Also, 3D porn games would just be overkill.

That Johnny Lee video is what got me thinking about this topic again..
And man, you scared me with the pissing on the face comment, I was afraid that video of him and I leaked... Oh wait.. I've said too much... Forget I've said anything *cough*
If your left eye sees something to the right of where it would be if it were in the background, and the right eye sees something to the left, it appears to come forward of the background, thanks to your brain decoding the image.
A standard LCD or CRT would be unable to produce a left eye and a right eye image at the same time, even if it could polarise light, so you would be looking at dedicated (read: expensive) equipment.
Of course it would be interesting to see, just to see if game companies can take the technology that far.
I'd play it if I didn't have to pay for it.
