Ok so Bayonetta has received a ton of unofficial commercial promotion by Jim Sterling who's been unrelenting in praising a game that has yet to be released. I don't see why. Okay, so the chick has guns for tits and can shoot fire balls out of her ass, big deal. The reason why am I unimpressed is because I hate games like DMC and NG; Bayonetta doesn't look like an exception to the genre. It's a genre that generally kicks ass, my ass because I suck at button mashing. If I ever were to play it, I would be sure to play on the ultra-pussy mode that was featured in an article not too long ago.
I am pretty sure Bayonetta will average an 8 on meta-critic, which is a good score but not great. Batman's metascore is currently at a 9 which augurs its commercial success and the overall quality of the game. The production values are extraordinary, and this may very well be a serious contender for GOTY. What I don't understand is how Destructoid's review can be below the average on metacritic for a game as good as Batman. The score of 9 is a precious number and should be saved for an elect few that set an unprecedented standard for the genre those games represent. The score of 8 represents a good game which falls short of greatness but is still worthy of play. To give Batman an 8 out 10 is to say it's just as good as DMC, NG, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, and the list goes on of good games that were never really great. This is an insult, Batman is definitely found in the higher league as it has single-handedly redefined the comic-book game genre, and given us the best god damn game of 2009 so far.

Most gamers know that scores are random - somewhat dependent on the reviewer - and generally not to be trusted 100%. What matters is what other gamers say about the game, maybe gamers with more similar tastes. In all honesty, when looking at a game as a potential purchase I tend to read gamer blogs more often than review scores.
Can someone please explain to me the hype behind this game! It looks like DMC 4 to me with a hot chick instead of Dante.
If a game's concept is so cool that someone trying to explain why they don't care about it can make it sound great then the hype must have some truth to it.
So the flow is already gone.
Anyway, about this article/rant/wtf: These games have nothing do with each other.
So stop.
If you button mash in DMC or (especially) NG, you're dead. Like, in seconds.
Like the others said before, if you button mash in DMC, you will fail on anything but easy automatic.
Also, as an action junkie, I'm appalled by your comparison. Why have Metal Gear Solid when you can have God of War? Your analogy makes no fucking sense.
Also, Groboh: Is Below An “8″ Really That Bad?
I gave Batman a 9, but it has a HEAP: read: a fucking HEAP of problems that prevent it from being the cream of the crop action game. For starters, it only takes 12 hours to get 100% of the items, hard is actually really easy, and it offers no post game story content what-so-ever.
Now compare this to DMC, which has a different story mode for every different replay value (different enemies/placements), takes more like 30 or so hours to get 100% completion, and is near impossible on Dante Must Die.
Whenever a game gets a numbered score, people seem to compare it to other games that got the same, or similar, score. That is stupid. If they're in the same genre, I could see it. But it's still pointless. What other games have got an "8" this generation? Shall we compare all of them?
And who gives a fuck if the Dtoid score is lower than Metacritic? That's how Metacritic scores are calculated, right? By averaging a bunch of review scores?
Why conform for the sake of it, rather than give an honest review?
AND FUCK, you don't even know what the Metacritic average of Bayonetta is, because it's not fucking out! Pre-emptive comparing of possible scores? WHY?
Chick has nice ass; guns. It gets attention. That's that. Give the game a chance before you consider it an insult to other games. If it sucks, then by all means, tear it down. But lets not shoot "facts" out of our asses like so many fireballs.

And lastly, why is the Bayonetta/Arkham Asylum comparison even relevant? If anything, Dante's Inferno is the game most gamers are going to compare Bayonetta with by the time of its release, since both those games are coming out 1st quarter 2010.
::I can do it too::
