Yesterday, a new teaser image appeared up on Blizzard.com of a rather... icy persuasion. There's been a lot of speculation over what the puzzle could be pointing towards, especially with the odd rune that was initially on the image. The rune was originally thought to be a Shael rune from Diablo 2, but was then redirected to be thought of as one of the runes from Frostmourne, the accursed sword of doom from the WarCraft franchise. So it's generally been a tug of war between whether or not the teaser was referring to Wrath of the Lich King or the potential for an announcement of a new entry into the Diablo franchise.
So we come to today, when things became more interesting. A second rune has appeared, which is without a doubt the Hel rune found in Diablo 2.
This caused many to turn back and ponder on it with a 'Diabolic' mindset, and the first rune was reexamined. So it was that Veltras over on Blizzforums.com came to find that the first rune, while not an exact match, did appear to be similar to the Nef rune also from Diablo 2, and uncovered a bit of a potential code.
The runes in Diablo 2 were symbolic and matched to the alphabet, in themselves forming a bit of a letter code. In that way, Nef would be D while the Hel rune would be O. Since the Hel is confirmed to be the Hel by full and unmistakable identification, and with Nef taken to really be Nef, the order would have to be Nef + Ort + El + Eld + Sol + Hel for it to spell out one thing so many are hoping it will... DIABLO.

If it is Diablo 3 though, I will find a nuclear bunker to hide in while the internet explodes.
