Hey, I'm Greg, i'm 21, live in England and am an independent video-game designer and artist.

Hello Destructoid!

A long way back i started a development blog here about my platform game "grapplePack".. well, a lot happened since then. My coder moved to San Fransisco and couldn't work on the game; i decided to learn to make the game myself and got to work. It has changed and developed a lot since then, but it has 45 levels across 3 unique worlds, original soundtrack, highscores, and a climactic final boss. Also a jetpack. I'm releasing it for free :)

The burn victims arch nemesis- lava! Draws the eye much better than the spikes, iím having everything that can kill be you very very obvious, and the background is less obtrusive now- it also scrolls parallax on several layers so its sexy as hell. Weíre just coming out of a little grind where the obvious art and engine stuff is being complete, and we can start being playful with the game. Something which gives me a big geek boner are game objects that work dynamically with each other- from a handful of objects you want the most outcomes when you combine them. We have lots of them. Things like tnt that causes chain reaction explosions destroying blocks in its path, to enemies you can lure to trigger switches, kill each other, trigger tnt, use to block projectiles. When it comes out i think people will use the editor to make crazy shit we never even thought of. Cheers, destructoid!








This is my first post, i've been lurking a bit and this place has a great community!

I've been making games in flash for a while and i'm now learning Unity as well, games i've made are: Use Boxmen, Bat Country, Death Dice Overdose.

I'm now working on a new game with a friend Sam of bitbattalion.com. Work in progress title is grapplePack- you use a grappling hook and a jetpack to swifly get through levels, its a fast paced action platformer which aims for very fluid movement and feeling badass zipping through obstacles, walljumping, rolling, swinging, flying, sliding.. we are really trying to nail the movement right now. The game will be free, with a standalone downloadable version and browser version; it will also have a level editor for players to make and share their own levels, using a tile engine. Its being made in Flash using Actionscript 3.

The story right now is that the character is a burn victim, burned badly by these dangerous factories which keep popping up, the game has a very industrial theme running through it. Now he must go through these deadly factories to ensure no one else is hurt by them, find out who is building them, why and stop them.
