I open my inbox to find that apparently now Nintendo has decided to begin marketing to mothers. Which is fine and dandy, if have a cool mother and not one that shrills at the idea of digital checkers. I apperciate how they're trying to expand there consumer horizon, but if you ask me there choices are horrible and assume that mothers aren't gamer's at all, but solely people willing to play digital versions of puzzles you could buy for 1 dollar at the news rack (or free online!).
Well it seems that Gamestop is pulling the same thing, but they made some more clever suggestions, that assume your parents might want to play something a bit more engaging. A few great examples along with a couple added of my own are:
Nintendo DS
Wii
Xbox 360
Simply put
XBLA, you have tons of choices at bare prices. Granted some titles could be found for free online, but you won't get the same quality and experience with your family around the TV. You can even hook mom up with a gold account and let her play some people online. For a list of there games visit: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/livearcadexbox360
PSP
Multiplatform
If you ask me, Rock Band is a great family investment. Its something you'll enjoy and all your friends and family can get in on, including mom. My own mom, brothers, aunt, uncle, and cousins all play!
If you have some suggestions for some titles that mom's might enjoy this mother's day feel free to tell, though consider we're trying to stay away from things like "Crosswords" on DS. I'll even add some mentioned to my own list here, so that others might look back for a few ideas.
