I don't really agree that Capcom is deliberately trolling Mega Man fans.
But you are right about SFxT containing everything that's wrong with the company these days. They've been getting worse since releasing two MVC3 games in the same year.
There are a couple Capcom games I'm excited about and will still play, but I'm buying them used because supporting their terrible decisions will only make them think it's okay to keep doing stuff like this.

You know, most of this, I sort of agree with. The way Capcom has been handling SFxT fiasco has been comical to say the least. Of course I also felt UMvC3 was treated with the same nonsensical bullshit. For example, only two character DLC for the first because of Tsunami... reminded me of when Gamecube's launch floundered in Japan, they blamed 9/11.
Regardless, I do have to take SOME issues. For example, the reference of Sony's fat sacks of cash. As a dude who has both 360 and PS3 since launch and spent the early years avoiding the 360 versions of games because I didn't want to get wrapped up in a title only to have it ship off for repairs (5 times...), I love this irony. Mainly because, of the two companies, isn't it always Microsoft who brags about how much money they spent on exclusives? Even in the recent Operation Racoon City? I ask this besides system fanboys on both sides of the issue feel it is 100% justified when, and ONLY when, it benefits them.
Meanwhile, on Sony's side of exclusives, they're usually due to the games in the genre generally performing better on that platform like Fighting Games or EA's lineup. Or, in a trick as old as the Playstation Brand, Sony simply offered to advertise the title (thus why some commercials end with the PS3 logo rather than both) to gain beneficial content. Plus, you're assuming Sony didn't model, rig, and send over the character models they want in.
But yes, you're totally right... those fat stacks of cash Sony threw around has totally fucked you. The millions of Call of Duty fans who own PS3s and have to wait months upon months for new maps are fine. Those PS3 users who bought pretty much anything Bethesda who have to deal with massively fucked lazy ports of their games and many months for DLC, they're fine. But you? You missed out on extra characters from a franchise you don't care about... that REALLY fucked you, man.
Also, in regards to Devil Man Cry fans being upset? They'll be upset anyway. If the game isn't just a rehash of their favorite version, they'll bitch, whine, moan, cry, and declare boycott long before they give something a chance. Fans are by far the biggest barrier for any thing out there. Look at the Michael Bay fiasco with TMNT. "ZOMG! THEY'RE ruining my favorite franchise from a kid where Shredder had an action figure where he turned into the Technodrone and Leonardo had an Indian Chief action figure... they're completely ruining a franchise that had a touring concert series...."
Fans are the child pouting at a bowl of cereal that can in a box they're not used to. They're mind cannot adjust to consider the content because they are just giant manbabies and Peekaboo still frazzles them...

The exclusives on the PS3 side of SFxT aren't just bonus characters, it's an entire game mode that Capcom could easily patch into the 360 version but just decided not to. That's different than having to wait a bit to be able to buy extra maps on Call of Duty.
isn't it always Microsoft who brags about how much money they spent on exclusives?
Nope, not really. Sony and Microsoft's publishers and developers almost never bring up how much they spent on exclusive content. Fanboys do all the time though.

My issue with Playstation isn't with characters like the Sony cats and Cole (which CAPCOM had to model and build up. Sony only gave them permission to use them). My issue is with the fact that the PS3 version has all advertised functions such as Offline/Online co-op and didn't have controller issues the way the 360 version did on release. The PS3 version also gets access to Pac-Man and Mega Man and the Vita version of the game will include all extra characters and be offered at a discounted price. Capcom representatives have also repeatedly stated that they were not picking favorites. That's some bullshit. Especially when they say they won't even go back in and finish a feature for the 360 version of the game, making the PS3 version literally superior in every way. We should be past shit like this now, but clearly we're not.
I'm not trying to be a fanboy for one console or the other as I own both, but I bought the 360 version because the majority of my friends have 360s.

I had more to say but thought I didn't have time. Turns out I have a few more minutes.
On the subject of DMC fans getting upset, regardless of how fans may have felt about gameplay changes, Capcom deliberately wanted to make this game and its star as different as possible. They could have just made a new character again like they did with 4, but instead, they're going with a reboot and claiming that Dante "isn't cool." Why would you do that? Why would you deliberately TRY to alienate your fans? I would think you'd try to keep them on board with you at least a little bit, but instead, they're shitting ALL OVER Dante and who he was.
As for Capcom "not trolling" fans of Mega Man, I truly believe that's what they're doing. They're that spiteful with Inafune that they would rather alienate people and let a famous character die rather than let Inafune's creation flourish (similar thing with Kamiya and DMC). I've had a chance to also talk with an ex-Capcom USA employee who quit his job due to poor pay conditions last year who said that in relation to Mega Man, that they were pretty much using him as troll bait (no, Capcom didn't really use that term themselves internally). You can take from that what you will as this obviously sounds like a "my uncle works for Nintendo" situation, but I can assure you, this guy was legit. Based on what I've seen Capcom do with the character, I believe him.

I like SFxT, but there's one issue that I HAVE to bring up: the talk of diagonal input issues. I'm no ace at fighting games, and my execution's not the greatest, but I've been having problems with absolute BASIC motions for weeks now when I play on pad. Quarter-circle moves come out half the time; I can't always build a charge for a Sonic Boom; when I'm blocking low attacks -- not attacking, not moving, just blocking -- suddenly I'll stop blocking and eat a combo. To say nothing of screwing up diagonal jumps and activating auto-combos whenever I move the stick.
Luckily I've made the switch to a MadCatz game pad I had lying around (though I had to set it to act as the D-pad, or I'd face the same problems). But this still smacks of incompetence; Capcom, you know you've screwed up when you can't even let players throw a fireball, right?

I thought the Pac-Man character and Megaman were part of the on disc DLC and that would be available for sale later. Then again, I must admit I've been quite out of the loop from Capcom since, well, SFIV was disappoint. By that, let's look at the Costume Pack in which, apparently, 360 users got so screwed. For SSFIV, you can download a costume pack that allows the people who bought DLC costumes could appear in those costumes online. Now, obviously because this is something that costs Live members the bandwidth to do (aka, you, with your membership, foot the bill for publishers), Silver members cannot download this pack. Which seems irrelevant anyway since you can't play Online on 360 without Gold. On PS3, this pack seems missing.... huh. You would THINK on the platform that actively enourages more online users for the game (according to Capcoms own metrics), giving people who paid the pride of showing off their outfits would be a MAJOR feature. Hell, maybe even promote and sell more outfits because someone saw whatever bad character design which somehow endears people in a different outfit was seen in an online match. Instead, this costume pack is 100% missing from PSN because, on PSN, developers have to foot the bandwidth bill. This was around the time Capcom was complaining about how they can't make money on PSN because of this. Ironically, less than a month later, during the great PSN downtime, Capcom was complaining about how they were losing roughly $170K in sales a week, so Capcom has, in the span of two months, claimed PSN was a money losing proposition when it was up as well as when it was down.
Which leads me to my next point, maybe you're giving Capcom too much credit with some of this stuff. Street Fighter x Tekken looked, to me, like another rush drop just to get a fighting game out. I'm getting quite annoyed that the "bitch" of fighting game genre, Mortal Kombat, seems to be the ONLY franchise they're actually taking their time on and making a fully featured game. The fact that Capcom couldn't get certain aspects working on 360 doesn't scream to me that PS3 got the better version, but that Capcom was lazy, apathetic, and too fucking cheap to fix things. Kinda like Lost Planet and DMC4 on PS3, huh? Capcom didn't want to spend the extra time developing to make it all work, nor do they want to spend the Certification costs to push patches through. Capcom, in essence, are lazy cheap bastards and I could have told you this during the beginning of the PS3's lifespan. Instead, what happened was the fanboys mistook Capcom's laziness as REAL system limitations and the "go make a sandwich" remark quickly became a "haha, PS3 sucks" comment. And now Capcoms lazyness is effecting the 360 version and me, who sat through ALL that shit when my comment was essentially pointing out devs that didn't have the Capcom Handicap, could really give a wet pigeon fart at this point. This is a genuinely lazy company that, for some reason, got a mega fuckton more credit than they deserved and only now, after 5 years of pointing this out, are me and the gaming public final realizing the same thing. Capcom is a LAZY company.
As for the Vita discount, you're right. It's absolutely terrible that I can go out to target right now and buy Street Fighter x Tekken on Vita for $20 (well, ignoring sales like Amazon's current one) cheaper. What's that? I can't? I have to wait several more months? And by then SFxT will likely be hitting the $20-$30 range on the bigger consoles... well fuck. That's completely unfair that late adopters get so screwed. I mean we have to WAIT for a game readily available on other consoles right now?
For the megaman situation, I can't say anything considering I thought MM9 was one of the most generic exercises in cashing in on pure nostalgia. Megaman fans have been trolled ever since MM3. But the Devil May Cry fans? Well, I'll TRY to be fair here but when the game dropped, the RE fans bitched. Then it gathered a following despite the hot mess the game was. Then they complained at the sequel, then the third, then the forth, then they complained when Dante showed up in Nocturne. Then they complained about how he was represented in MvC3. Then this one was announced and guess what happened? Once again, bitch, whine, moan, complain, etc. If all the DMC fans want are the old DMC games, then I have GREAT news for them... they still exist.
If every company treats their characters the way the fans wanted, everything would be worse right now. Evidence? Batman. Batman, as it started, was terrible. Original Batman was never good. From fighting a talking ape, to the Mad Hatter just being an english gent collecting hats, Batman was fucking awful. So much to the point that 60's Batman deliberately camped it up. Then in the late 70s, things changed. batman tried to take a more serious approach. Which changed further and further. Now we're waiting for an epicly serious blockbuster this summer based around a man dressing as a Bat.
Why can't you let Capcom try to Batman Devil May Cry? Why can't fans ever just shut up, and get out of the way so that franchises can grow and evolve? This game MAY be terrible and if so, they'll go back. Capcom is more than willing to pander shamelessly to fans, but how about you give them the chance to do what they want with THEIR property and if the new stuff truly offends you, dig out your PS2 and shut the fuck up.

It seems like the bulk of your post is saying "This is old news to me. You shouldn't be discussing it because I already knew about it." These are concerns that have been welling up in me for a while now and I wanted to share them to get them off my chest.
Capcom has said nothing about Mega Man and Pac-Man being available on 360 yet. If they do make people buy them on 360, that only emphasizes my point further that the PS3 version was being pushed out with more incentive for consumers.
As for the PS3 SFIV situation, that does suck, but here are a couple things. First of all, they did say that they were losing money from the PS3 version, so it makes even more sense that Sony would pay them more to give them more content since they know Capcom saw their platform as the less profitable venture. Second of all, those are just other people's costumes. They don't add anything to the gameplay the way that extra characters do.
I completely agree that Capcom is lazy and that they've rushed their last two fighting games out the door, but that doesn't mean I can't call them out on their bullshit excuses and reasons.
I honestly don't think that Mega Man 9 was a lazy game. Classic Mega Man had gone unused for quite some time, so the idea of a classic Mega Man game seemed great. Especially since Capcom has actually never truly trusted in Mega Man (as Inafune stated, he was the main reason Mega Man survived as long as he did), a digital downloadable game was perfect. After the success of 9, I do think they got lazy with 10. It's cool do something like that once, but by the second time they also tacked on needless DLC and made it seem like much more of a money grab than the first game.
As for the Vita version of the game, I don't understand why you're being so cynical about my problems with it. The Vita version will most likely cost $40 upon its release and will include an extra $20 of content for free. Meanwhile, early buyers of the game are stuck with a $60 game and will be forced to pay an extra $20 to receive content that is already finished and already in players' hands. If the game does drop in price at all by the time of Vita's release. It will go no lower than $40, still making the Vita version the superior buy. Do you really see absolutely no problem with this?
Do you also really believe that Devil May Cry has been bad up to this point? You really think its as bad as classic Batman was?
Also, I never heard anyone complain about Dante appearing in SMT:Nocturne, and I never heard anyone complain about Dante's appearance in MvC3. In fact, I believe people were RELIEVED that DMC3 Dante was chosen for the game. You really seem to be over-exaggerating how DMC fans feel about games.
I, and I'm sure many DMC fans, have no problem with change. I WANT change and evolution in my games so they don't get stale. What I don't want is another God of War clone, which this game definitely appears to be following based on what I've heard from people that have tried the game.
The problem also is how far Capcom is taking it and, once again how Capcom and Ninja Theory have been addressing the changes. Capcom and Ninja Theory have no tact. They absolutely suck at public relations. They've done nothing to quell the concerns of fans, who will make up a good portion of their sales. I'm not saying Capcom should simply pander to the fans and not change the game at all, but they've only pushed people away more than they've drawn them in.
Let me also clarify, I'm not a DMC fanboy. I've enjoyed the games, and what I've seen for dmc hasn't interested me at all. I'm just appalled at the way Capcom has been addressing issues with the public.

I've already bitched about it at lenght but I'll do it again.
Operation Racoon city is a travesty, its littered with game breaking bugs and glitches and some immensely frustrating, it also has a shitty netcode.
There have been no words on a fix and yet they saw fit to announce a 7 chapter campaign, only chapter 1 is free, everything else? Paid DLC, they also mentioned working on a map pack for multi.
I said jokingly that we will probably get DLC before we get a fix and look at that shit, mums the word on fixing their shitty broken game but CHECK OUT THIS DLC YO, GET THOSE WALLETS READY.
Fuck Capcom, I am also done with them.

I don't know anyone that complained about Devil May Cry as its own game. It was made clear that this had been a concept for RE4, but turned into something else entirely. People were excited for it.
People complained about DMC because DMC2 was TERRIBLE.
No one complained about Dante in SMT Nocturne - Atlus went to Capcom because they thought it would be cool to have him. Most people think his inclusion is cool.
Most people regard DMC3 to be the best of the series. DMC4 tried to follow it up, but DMC3 was just a hard act to follow.
I think people are being a bit extreme about DmC. From what I've seen of the actual gameplay it seems to fit right in with the rest of the series. So what if Dante has black hair in this one? Is that what people are on about? Is does he have green eyes and longer legs now? Did DMC fans become Sonic "fans?"
At least play it before condemning it.

I agree with you. I played Operation Raccoon City with Wilbo and I wasn't impressed at all. The game was generic and as soon as we completed the campaign, I had no desire to do anything else with the game. The multiplayer was the same old shit. As for netcode and glitches, the two glitches I ran into were: Wilbo got trapped beneath an elevator for the majority of a level, and and one point my game freaked out and completely removed the audio (I had to reboot the 360 to get audio back). I've heard about many more glitches, though.

I think Dante's redesign is far more drastic than Sonic's. It's not just the black hair. Its his entire demeanor. Apparently his new look is "cool." He looks like a douche, effeminately smoking a cigarette atop a tower.
It makes even less sense when you think about the fact that this game is supposed to be an origin story. How the hell does Dante go from this current design to "LET'S GET CRAZY!" Dante? It doesn't make any fucking sense.

Just realized a few posts ago I called Sheppy's Vita comments "cynical." I meant "sarcastic." Whoops.
@genki-Jam,
Consider for a moment that you AREN'T a current Devil May Cry fan and look realistically, at Dante's design and demeanor. The dude was designed to essnetially play like a John Woo cliche, surfing demons, cranking rock music, and doing it all while eating a slice of pizza. His design is a red tanned trenchcoat, three different belts, and no shirt. He is, essentially the Japanese equivelant of the douchebag you claim to hate. Same attitude, same measure of completely unlikable character, just a different cultures interpretation of a complete and total scumbag jerkwad fuckface. His designed centered around the Sasuke archtypes seen in many, many anime. The new version? Same concept, just looks like he fell out of Trainspotting rather than the Leaf Village.
As for Capcom losing money on SFIV on PS3, ask yourself a simple question... how much do you trust a claim like this when almost every iteration sold nearly 2:1 on one console versus the other?
But really, yeah. Vent all you want, I just pointed out my two issues with the thing and found it otherwise aggreeable. And now, I'm going to quit bitching about video games to go play board games...

@sheppy
Uh... what? If I had never seen Dante before in my life, I would still today find him an entertaining and fun-looking character. The John Woo archetype is nothing like Dante. Woo's characters are much more noir-like in nature with a coolness that I compare to that of Spike from Cowboy Bebop. I'd also like to mention that he was shirtless in ONE GAME.
Ninja Theory says they found the old Dante to be comical and not at all cool. The point of Dante's character was that he was both fun and cool and silly. It was SUPPOSED to be a bit comical. If anything, I would compare Dante to the NINJA TURTLES in demeanor. If your "Sasuke archetype" is referring to the brooding Sasuke from Naruto, then I have to honestly ask you WHAT Devil May Cry games you have played, because this has NEVER been the case.
The new version of Dante looks like a little annoying hipster kid who's "misunderstood." He just looks like a little shit.
Ninja Theory says Dante is about being cool and feeling cool playing as him. Dante's CREATOR, Hideki Kamiya said Dante was supposed to be a cool, fun character you could go out and have a drink with and have a good time. I would never want to go get a drink with this.
I also don't get where you're going with the SFIV on PS3 discussion. I said I trusted YOUR statement that Capcom said they lost money on the PS3 version of the game. Or were you saying that the statement was bullshit because they were actually just lazy..? I really don't understand where the hell you're going with that.

To be fair it's not like Capcom didn't talk to Microsoft about exclusive characters. From what I remember they couldn't come to an arrangement with them about any exclusives on the 360. The Mega Man/Pac Man deal was just that a deal to give people insentive to get it on PS3. I know I did. In that respect it's no different that any other exclusive deal either company has made in the past or present. Hell for all we know Mega Man/Pac Man could only be a timed deal.
However I do agree that it's pretty shitty that 4 player versus didn't make it to SFxT on 360 and I'm not sure how to feel about this on disc DLC. Those are some garbage practices right there.
Also what do you mean the ending of Asura's Wrath was DLC? I'm pretty sure the game had an ending. Unless you mean the secret ending? I've never played it....but that was unlockable in game....so..... :/

The fact that Mega Man/Pac Man were made to give EVEN MORE incentive to people to get the game on PS3 (along with the Sony cats) is exactly my point. They're 2 characters that are clearly on both versions of the game, yet the PS3 version gets priority over the 360 version. It's obviously a timed deal since they're on the 360 disc, but to put that on top of the rest of the 360's shoddy workmanship just proves my point that they succumbed to Sony's sacks of money.
As for Asura's Wrath, the "secret ending" is an extra 2 or 3 minutes added to the game's ending which reveals that the happy conclusion you thought you had obtained was false. The game has no resolution to the final conflict. I thought the ending was implying a sequel, but instead it appears that if I want to actually have CLOSURE to that game, I have to BUY IT. This "secret ending" also isn't very difficult to get. You need to get 5 S-ranked levels, which can easily be done during your initial playthrough. After that, you're forced to play the final level twice (first to beat the game, then again to get an extra 3 minutes added to the ending).

I was really really excited for this game but after all the disc locked shit, I say fuck capcom as well. This is fucking bullshit.
I just hope to fuck that Namco or whowever it is that does Tekken does not pull the same shit with Tekken x Street Fighter

But again your complaining about something that's become a common business practice. Where were you 4-5 years ago when 360 was king of the exclusive deal for multiplat games? Again that's just business and better business for Sony as unlike Microsoft they were willing to actually get exclusive content to the PS3 version. Ironically Microsoft led the charge on that front but suddenly that's not fair?
Both versions should be identical as far as game modes are concerned but alls fair when it comes to game content.

@garethxxgod
Part of my complaint is about the old business practice of exclusive content, yes. What's different is that before it was stuff like Darth Vader being PS3 only (for a long time) and exclusive Joker missions. Usually, fighting games would provide at least something on each console version. Instead, SFxT has been NEGLECTED on the 360. No access to 5 characters that the PS3 version gets when two of them are clearly meant for both systems, and an exclusive handheld version with new content at a discounted price.
I get that this kind of stuff has been going on forever, which is why that isn't even the bulk of my argument. It's still something that hasn't been terribly prevalent in the gaming industry for a few years now. Perhaps I was foolish to think we were finally growing past it this gen. Even if everything was the other way around, I would still complain because I'm not being a console fanboy. I'm just upset over Capcom's decisions and how they've been handling the public.

I stopped playing when the round ended when only 1 of my teammates was defeated. Maybe I am spoiled by the DOA series. But if 1 member of my team loses.. I still have a partner left... I played 3-4 matches with my friend who has the game and said "yea i'm all set" that and the gems make this game a joke. IS this Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems? They are 100% out of place. I do like how Rolento plays in the game though, but that's it. Great article. I wish the game in question was great too. Maybe i'll get it when they make a super duper edition with all the DLC and I find it on sale for $20. We'll see.
