So I realize I'm a few days behind the rockstars that had the game Saturday night, but yesterday I rocked out with the latest GH and it brought me right back to loving the game. Without too many things to say and still being very new to the new release, I wanted to give some initial thoughts and hear some of your impressions as well...
1. I'm glad the powers that be, did not make everyone buy new guitars. The new wireless ones are cool, but already having two guitar would have probably made me NOT buy the game because of the extra $100 you'd need for the game specific guitars. I'm glad that these games are playing fair.
2. The song list is fun again. There's so many classics, but I'm a huge Killers fan and I also enjoyed the AFI track they threw out.
With so much music around the world, I wonder when you'll be able to download a song and their software will convert it into a playable track...now that would be cool!
3. I noticed the developers realized that we're too busy playing the notes to look up on the screen, so they've placed most of the information items on the bottom half of the screen which I thought was intuitive.
4. The story line is fun and thought the jail house rock was cool.
Overall, I'm back to loving Guitar Hero. I assume downloadable songs will continue to be released and I hope they can reduce the cost for those as well. I also hope the competition that Rock Band and the other music-surrounding games will force the development teams to stay on top of things and continue giving us what we love!

PS-Here's a dumb little video of me playing GH2, but the point is the cool GoG skins we have available for your own guitars :)
The Killers and AFI tracks are the most emo, craptastic tracks on there IMO.. I played them with the volume all the way down.
To answer your question, I don't think I'm related to Niero, but I may have a parallel universe brother, haha. Why do you ask Snaileb?
On co-op, do you play the same notes or separate notes together? Also, I might need a full entry about this, but I have one guitar that seems to plat the notes louder than the other...what's up with that???
No the worst part is when they make you strum a note in the middle of a HO/PO section.
this has been done in a few other titles in the past, most notably in vib-ribbon. i think there was a game called 'dance factory' that did it as well. guitar hero is a different beast, other than just taking the rhythm/bpm into account, you have to take pitch of the notes into account so that they are charted in a manner that feels natural. there are 3rd party utils to create your own guitar hero tabs and make your own tracks, if your interested check out the forums at scorehero.
One last note/question while Gh3 is on my mind, is there a way to play multiple notes on one long note? When I battle the first "boss", he was jamming like 5 notes into one button press. I wasn't sure if you could do this yourself.
I haven't personally met Niero yet, but I hope to chat with him soon because as you saw yesterday, I am one of the guys behind The GoG and we would enjoy talking to him about Destructoid and our new social network fro gamers, possibly connecting with the gamers around here :)
His email is open to all.
Ha ha, same thing happened to me =(, second try next weekend, being drunk will either ease the pain and make me play ultra good or it will just delay my reactions and make me lose earlier.
