So I brought this little goldmine over to the pre-NYE party...There were only a few people, but with drinks in hand, we tried out this classic game, gone virtual, Jenga!
We only got to play a few games, but I'm looking forward to the next time we get together and play! The physics and game play were cool. It was a bit hard to learn how the Wiimote reacted with the game's movement, but it was fun as we started to get better at understanding the controls.
Great game, but only a rental...unless you're a HUGE Jenga master...which I've never met, but who knows, haha
Super Mario Galaxy felt like a reunion with my childhood...
I've seen alot of Mario titles come and go since the 3 NES classics, that memorized the video gaming world, many years ago. As with most titles, I had great hope for Super Mario Galaxy, but also knew I would be let down like so many knockoffs before it...
I recently gave Super Paper Mario a try, considering it was the Wii and I thought things would be different. As much as I struggled with the childish dialog and time wasting gameplay, I kept trying to enjoy it, until I traded it away so I could try out Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (which also sucks).
With a few single-player Wii games leaving a sour taste in my mouth and Wii Sports still my only real favorite on the Wii so far, I chose to only rent Super Mario Galaxy. After a few days of checking it out...if you're looking for a unique game playing experience with a subtle classic Mario reference, I would strongly recommend buying(or at least renting) this one.
I think the best part of this game is something that is rarely found in alot of games today...my girlfriend and I enjoyed this game together!!! Although it is one player game, it's easy to exchange the controllers (even if someone doesn't want to and they end up going a few extra turns Wink ) She got to know the game first, then I joined in and we now battle Koopa together!
The other great things about Mario Galaxy, is the ultra-unique worlds, solid map logic, cameras, controls, graphics, limited storyline, fun new tools and toys, fun mini games, and the great references to the Mario games of old! I wish I could go into details for every aspect of these things, but I'll leave the to someone who has finished the game.
We've completed 3 galaxies (out of 6) so far and I hope my girlfriend and I can continue along and "beat the game" ...haha...especially because it's overdue and I've got to get it back!
THANKS MARIO(and Nintendo)...it's great to enjoy your classic charm in a whole new way!
So I realize I'm a few days behind the rockstars that had the game Saturday night, but yesterday I rocked out with the latest GH and it brought me right back to loving the game. Without too many things to say and still being very new to the new release, I wanted to give some initial thoughts and hear some of your impressions as well...
1. I'm glad the powers that be, did not make everyone buy new guitars. The new wireless ones are cool, but already having two guitar would have probably made me NOT buy the game because of the extra $100 you'd need for the game specific guitars. I'm glad that these games are playing fair.
2. The song list is fun again. There's so many classics, but I'm a huge Killers fan and I also enjoyed the AFI track they threw out. With so much music around the world, I wonder when you'll be able to download a song and their software will convert it into a playable track...now that would be cool!
3. I noticed the developers realized that we're too busy playing the notes to look up on the screen, so they've placed most of the information items on the bottom half of the screen which I thought was intuitive.
4. The story line is fun and thought the jail house rock was cool.
Overall, I'm back to loving Guitar Hero. I assume downloadable songs will continue to be released and I hope they can reduce the cost for those as well. I also hope the competition that Rock Band and the other music-surrounding games will force the development teams to stay on top of things and continue giving us what we love!
I wanted to write a short intro on The GoG and what we're doing around there, so here it goes...I hope you'll check us out and work with your Dtoid profile, to add The GoG as one of your daily obsessions!
