I just read a great blog about why people should buy Nintendo's Wii U. Wait... People actually care about the Wii U? Yes, people, the Wii U is an awesome system and you should not overlook it. The system has a great library. There are awesome fist party titles, great third party titles, and the eShop has a lot to offer. Yes, the sales are very poor and the system has not met expectations, but that should not drive you away from buying the system. Most people that criticize the system do not even own one. I will agree that it does lack power compared to its Sony and Microsoft counter parts, but it still can compete with an amazing lineup of games. Don't become another person who criticizes something without even trying it because the Wii U deserves your full attention.
The first party games on the Wii U are excellent. Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, and many more great titles. Nintendo has always been known for their first party games and the games on the Wii U are no slouches. The future looks bright with Mario Kart 8 being released this month, Nintendo hopefully showing strong games at E3, and Super Smash Bros. later this year, the Wii U could show that it is a legitimate system.
While Nintendo has not been the best when it comes to strong third party support, there still is some support. Franchises like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed have made their ways to the Wii U. I do hope that this support does grow because it would be great to see some excellent games ported over. All gamers deserve to play multi-platform games regardless of the system it is played on.
The eShop is awesome on the Wii U. With retro games including Earthbound, Super Metroid, and Super Mario World, gamers can experience nostalgia or can create new memories playing such classics. The eShop also has a number of quality indie games, as well as virtual titles that can be downloaded right to the system. Recently, Nintendo has added gameboy classics. These include Metroid Fusion, Advance Wars, and numerous other great titles. I missed out on most of these gems so I am excited to experience some amazing titles.
Whether you like it or not, the Wii U is an awesome system. Do not let someone else decide whether or not you want a Wii U. Yes the system has flaws, including the game pad controller and a lack of third party support. But these flaws should not decide whether you want the system or not. The games are what matters most and Nintendo has games. With great games out now and great games to arrive, the Wii U is 100% a console you should own!
