Been awhile since my last blog. I know how you all love them... anyways.
The last month or so, I've been tearing through my many games instead of surfing the internet like I usually do. And now I finally come back to see people blaming Ed Boon for ruining Mortal Kombat with this latest outing of MK vs DC Universe. The teen rating is making everyone foam at the mouth, cuss like a 10 year old on Halo 3, and blame the MK creator with the entire downfall.
So.. you think Mr. Boon is ruining the game. Good for you. Now look a bit harder.
There's about a dozen interviews out there, a FEW on video for those who are illiterate, that has Mr. Boon openly stating that since DC Comics doesn't want their heroes being gored, flamed, torn to pieces, destroyed, or eviscerated in any way, shape or form, the game will be getting a Teen rating DUE TO THEIR DISLIKING OF FATALITIES. However he will try and push the Teen rating of the game as far as he can under their seeing eyes.
Now, from the previews I've been reading on here... the game looks like its to be shaping up as one of the better MK games due to its improved fighting system and linking of combo moves. Yet people are giving the game personal low scores all around because you can't rip the head off of the Flash, then with a flick of your finger cause the body to shatter. Then blaming Ed Boon for not putting enough gore in, which was not his decision to begin with.
To be honest, if Mr. Boon was running the show, I'm sure it'd be pretty damn gory. But that isn't paying is check every month is it? DC is, but licensing their characters into the game.. he has to play by their rules due to some sort of contract. Therefore, people complaining about the Jokers AWESOME fatality being pulled. Not his decision. No limbs being removed. Nope, not his fault. Not enough blood to sate your lust. Go blame DC Comics.
At least you'll be complaining about the RIGHT group of people removing the trademark gory Fatalities from the game. Point the fingers in the right direction people.
Which comes to my next question: Since the Fatalities in the MK series is a trademark of the series, and have been toned down to none existent, will you buy the game because its a Mortal Kombat game or if, by all means if, the game turns out to be a good fighting game, by it because it's actually a good game and deal with the crappy finishers?
though I don't mind MK3...but most old school MK fans will tell you 2 was the last good MK game in the series. MK vs. DC IMO is Midway trying to catch up to vs. series 10 years after we've all moved on.
and the fighting engine looks no different from the past broken 3d MK games. so I dunno where this "improved fighting system" is coming from. Katana alone looks to have infinites out the ass. As for buying the game....I stopped buying MK games after 3.
