this post is pretty much an exact copy of what I posted but maybe someone will read it. freedom of speech people if someone wants to say they dont like gays deal with it. If they dont have a freedom of opinion then get in line with obama in making the us a communist nation.
@TheBiggHurt
Several people have said it better than you or I ever could both [url=http://www.destructoid.com/should-we-boycott-shadow-complex--145354.phtml]here and [url=http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/SurplusGamer/shadow-complex-defending-a-boycott-145729.phtml]here. The issue isn't about boycotting Orson Scott Card's views on sexuality, it's about boycotting the potential to funnel money into the pocket of a man who resides on the board of an organization that has routinely cockblocked the the advancement of Gay Rights in America. You don't have to agree with the boycott itself, but to say that it's completely ridiculous and unnecessary? I shouldn't even bother typing all of this at you, especially after that absolutely idiotic closing line, but I can't help but give a shit when it comes to gay rights.
It's their decision to boycott the organization OSC belongs to. If you can't respect that you're a hypocrite.
@jamBOT
Ehr, way to state the obvious, I guess? I don't really understand the point of this blog. You capitalize words to state emphasis far too much. I had the image of you shouting at me in my head the whole time I was reading your blog.
I think I see what you did there, with the constantly switching view point trying to illustrate the fact that this issue is touchy, but.. eh.. it fell flat. Could you elaborate further as to how you feel about it? It doesn't help that you're really late to the party on this issue, at least here on Destructoid.
All of that aside, welcome!

Man, why you got to even do a thing. Krow has the right of it, and you should definitely check out those links to get the full story and so much more you'll never want to read about it again.
@The Big Ghurt
Are you fucking serious? You need to go back to school and learn about the three branches of government. Or did the commies write those textbooks, what with their opinions that differ from yours. Burn 'em at the stake rather than try and understand what the fuck is going on, right? My bad if you don't catch the allusions and inherent irony.

Me, personally, I think it's dumb to not buy a game because some gay bashing douche gets a small amount of royalties from it. The game doesn't bash gays. The people who made it don't bash gays. Buy the damn game...
Question: Where can I find information about the formal boycott of Orson Scott Card's works outside of the Shadow Complex issue? Before these game news articles I had no awareness of an organized community boycott of OSC.
I've written a little about this before, but it is important to note that, for some reason, Chair really wants a relationship with Card. I think it's unfortunate such talented, driven developers want that, but it seems to be a running theme with them. Before formally becoming "Chair", they produced Advent Rising in close collaboration with Card and now they seem to have exclusive rights to making a game based on Ender's Game.
I admit, I bought Shadow Complex as I felt was worth buying since the game itself has no overt politics in it at all, but I have no problem with people boycotting the game if they feel this strongly about it.

It's worth pointing out that the sexist misogynist in me thought the name of your website was "girlsgonejizz", so you get points for that. You're also the first female to join Destructoid in quite some time that didn't feel the need to explicitly say that they were a GRLL GAMER in their intro in some capacity, so that's nice.
Again, welcome! If you want to see the tip-top of the Cblogs around here check out BulletMagnet, Tubatic, Unangbangkay, and Yojimbo. They're the first that come to mind.

@Krow
first of all maybe if some of OSC's opinions had leaked into the story of the game then I would understand why people could boycott a game without giving it a chance. Also someone having a working relationship with someone who doesn't share the same view as others as a reason to boycott something doesnt make sense to me. I dont believe the game makers themselves have anything to do with this anti gay thing that OSC does so it really shouldnt matter in my opinion.
@BlueXy
you really dont know anything about sarcasm do you? And im officially done talking about a game everyone should play on its own merits and not on what some ancillary writer or contributor did to make the game's story.

@KROW
Well... the article isn't just "FOR YOU", so I'm sorry that you felt I was stating the obvious, or missed the point. I will explain. There was another website, where this same discussion got into a heated debate, and it happened to spill over to this site. I had already bought and halfway finished Shadow Complex, before I ever saw the boycott.

So I looked for the information myself, to see who and what this "Card" person was about. But, when I saw Orson Scott Card's interview on XBox Live Video --- that's when I decided to post "my opinion" about the situation in my first post for Destructoid, (no fanfair please). It was crystal clear that Mr. Card was a complete douchebag, and may have some "personal" issue he needs to address. The old saying about "Someone is protesting to much", is definitely in effect here.
"Switching View Points", I don't really see that, because that's just my writing style. I write no differently on destructoid, then I would on any other gamesite. (Kotaku and Giantbomb).

You confuse me. I "think" you're trying to be nice. I can't really get offended by the "Girls Gone Jizz", because it was actually pretty funny. Sooooo... thank you? I think? HAHAHA! You still confuse me.
And there HAS to be other girls on this site. What about the girl who works at Destructoid? The brunette girl... Colette. What about her? (I can't believe you found me out, curses. On Kotaku, they think I'm a dude.)
