Would it be worth it to go ahead and buy a 360?
FrozenSpaceMonkey | 2:32 PM on 08.27.2007 7 comments

I'm thinking about getting a 360 now that MSoft has the 3 year warranty and whatnot, but would it be worth it to go ahead and buy one? I am worried about the failure rates, so I was considering waiting for the "Falcon" 65nm chips in the fall/winter.

I was thinking though, if the earlier models fail so much, wouldn't it be more financially sound for Microsoft to replace the units that come in with the newer chipsets, provided they are on the shelves and readily available at the time the console may have to be repaired?

What do you guys think the chances of getting the more reliable chipset would be if one bought in the near future had to be sent in for repair? Or should I just wait?

Buy a used one and a used hard drive. Use the extra money to buy a shitload of Microsoft points. You'll save, and you'll still have a 3-year warranty.

It depends on what you're looking for if you want a different console, but that's my advice, as far as the 360 goes.

it all depends how long you can wait. my opinion, i'd buy one now, so you can get to playing, and you have that 3 year warranty. mine got the ring of death once and i sent it back in and they gave me a brand new console and hasn't failed since. and even if yours does fail it will most likely be around the time with the new chipsets so they'll probably just replace it with a new one as well.

GET ONE. I stopped playing everything else when I got my elite. now the question is, do you want to wait for smaller and cooler chips (65nm) or not. but DEFINITELY buy one. there are so many great games and the online is unequaled. and I hated online gaming before the 360

I put it to Cowzilla3 that FrozenSpaceMonkey too uses 'what not'. I rejoice! Now friend let us welcome it into the language again as we usher into a new era.

And yes, yes you should.

I love my 360, it's completely replaced my PC and Wii. A good catalogue of games with loads of stuff coming out. Plus, they can be sold on ebay without losing much value if you really don't like it...

DAMN IT PEOPLE

Whatnot is not a word! What not as two words is only slighlty better. Both are fail.

Monkey, not only is what not wrong but whatnot as a single word is double, ultra mega, super, extra, califragilistic, overly, perpoustuoursly, made-up-wordly wrong. Dan Gale this does not validify the use of whatnot or what not. It's pure evil! I'm starting to regret your return.

Buying a 360 on the other hand is awesome, so do it now.
