Reasons why the new Prince Of Persia is the best thing to happen since the big bang
Art Direction: Have you seen the colours in the new PoP? The way it gives you greys and dull colours when the corruption is about, only makes the healed land look amazing. , The cel-shaded style Characters look fantastic. I’d take these graphics over the most realistic ones any day. I don’t want realism of the stark reality, I want a place to escape, a place to be wowed and amazed.
Characters: Although the Rogue and the Princess is a clichéd duo, it works because the characters of The Prince and Elika have a fantastic chemistry. They seem real, they are 3 dimensional, they have their own opinions, they will (Especially the Prince) make sometimes hilarious comments about a situations, and they just work so well together. They even grow to like each other. The humour is well placed and makes me love the new Prince, he might just be the best Protagonist since… well I don’t know! If I’d have to describe him, I’d say he was a Raz/Altair mixture, but that’s not really truthful since I can’t name another VG character like him. Elika is the best female sidekick since Alyx. I mean Elika saves your ass every 5 minutes! As well as helping you do a double jump and using magic to super-jump and fly, yet, despite this, she does not feel overpowered, she still needs the Prince’s help and his abilities. So PoP doesn't need a huge cast of good characters, it has 2 great ones I never want to leave. Death system: That’s right, there isn’t one, and that is what is brilliant. The reason I never got into platformers was because of the frustration of seeing a game over screen or a load screen, it sucked, it put me off, but not anymore, you can’t die. Some games expand their length by killing you at a really hard bit, but not PoP, no sir, If I die, I get to go straight back into the action!
Doing something different: So I’m still a little confused about whether this is a spiritual sequel or a re-boot, but it doesn’t matter, it does something new, Original IP’s are what generate sequels and This is one of the better ones, By not having a HUD, Health system or Death Screen and instead having simple visual cues; it feels refreshing, it keeps what it does best and sticks to it. I must be the only person who loves Assassin’s Creed (And it’s Sci-Fi Element) and this Prince of Persia, who many people claim are repetitive. I don’t care, I love repeating stuff which is enjoyable. Okay, so things may not be mixed up to often, but at least the majority of the game is different. (Not innovative, everything has been done before, it’s how you take what’s been done and do it different, not Innovative, I HATE THAT WORD, “INNOVATIVE” GRRRAAAAA!!! OOoh okay, I went a little overboard there) Fan Service: I don’t care if Sands of Time trilogy fans are pissed, because I hated those games, now I love Prince of Persia, it has probably gained as many fans as it has lost. Also, having Altair and Jade as unlockable Skins? Yes Please! Two of my favourite characters as well! What luck! Why don’t more games have free stuff like that? On a last note, I’d take Single-player over Multi-player any day, so while this may seem like a ‘Rent’ to some people, I’d re-play it, for the glorious moments and scenery and characters, and everything this game offers me. And that is why I love the new Prince of Persia. 4 Awesomes out of 5 and my Seal of Approval. (P.S Happy Boxing Day!... We do celebrate Boxing day right?)

The battles were fun until I realized Elika = fucks anything up and there were only a few combinations worth doing.
Definitely a must play, but I found myself bored with it towards the middle of the game and wouldn't pay more than AU$50(US$40) for it.
@Primo, the music is SOOO GOOD
